spitefulcheerio 04-18-2011 03:05 PM

get rotas lol

Rushin 04-18-2011 03:06 PM

Why? what kind of comment is that?

soviet 04-18-2011 03:08 PM

wrong forum/wrong crowd - 15x8 6ULs are under $720 shipped

Rushin 04-18-2011 03:09 PM

I am sure there are a few people who would get these. Not everybody are into light and function. Some like the looks more than function. Just saying.

spitefulcheerio 04-18-2011 03:14 PM

function > form any day!

I could get lighter wheels for cheaper...that, to me, seals the deal

I think you meant to post this on clubricer.net. Just saying.

Rushin 04-18-2011 03:18 PM

Sure. That's how a lot of people are. I don't know how to say it so it sounds polite but in america style was always taken over by function. Most american cars are still ugly as hell because people in US don't care about the style. Many business people go to office wearing $10 running shoes. Not like that in other countries where style much more important.

totally was not planning on taking this conversation off topic.

Bond 04-18-2011 03:27 PM

I hate how they put those fake bolts around the outside like they are 3 piece wheels or something. My gay ass sportmax had those, but I popped them all out and painted the rhimz black.

soviet 04-18-2011 03:30 PM

True. Still, $720 is pretty expensive for knock-offs.

Well, the original is a 3-piece :bowrofl:

Sean 04-18-2011 03:34 PM

You can buy sportmaxx wheels like those for $500 and know the quality you are getting not super great but better than unknown. Personally I would buy something different for that much money you could even get a really really nice set of used wheels for that cash.

Rushin 04-18-2011 03:35 PM

Not everybody has 4k to by original work wheels.

I just bought replica bbs ch for my legacy. They are 18x8.5 and look just like the real thing. Real bbs is 450 a piece mine were 599 shipped for all 4 and they are only 3lbs heavier.

I'm all for good looking wheels, but dear god...those things at the top are fucking hideous. Who the hell wants to run wheels like that and be taken seriously????

I'm all for cheap wheels, but they have to at least be decent looking.

y8s 04-18-2011 04:02 PM

this thread is funny.

OP: next time just buy them for yourself if you like them and don't share your innermost secret thoughts with the opinionated jokesters here.

I'd rather buy Rotas.

s!lv!a 04-18-2011 09:53 PM

So much hate.. What's wrong with looking good? Not everyone builds their cars as light/strong/powerful as possible, some people simply like their car to look nice to daily drive.

I personally wouldn't spend that much on some knock-offs of knock-offs.. I like the "axis" looking ones but if I were to get them I'd buy the original Work Equips.. which are actually 3 piece..

Serious question. What was everyone on before 6uls came out?

18psi 04-19-2011 01:34 AM

Kosei k1's IMO

Sportmaxx 002, Kosei K1, Rota slipstream or one of the OEM sets.

Nothing wrong with looking good, but everyone has a different idea of what "good" is.

I got a set of 6UL's cause they not only look good, but they are strong and lightweight as well. Not to mention the price was good.

Seriously those eBay/super cheap-o brands of wheels are like the Natural Ice of the beer world- being the cheapest shit of cheap shits and everyone around knows that you'd be better off drinking your own piss after scooping it out of the porta-john. If you're going to be cheap, at least to it with a good cheap. I'd say Rota is about like PBR- sure it's cheap, but it get's the job done, it's been around awhile and it's generally not frowned upon.

Eh? I thought Rotas were frowned upon. Usually it's by snobs for copying expensive wheels, but there's lots of reports of casting related failures (probably from copying a forged design) on some of their lighter weight models. I wouldn't trust a rota wheel that had thin spokes or weighed less than a pound per inch of wheel diameter.

Doppelgänger 04-19-2011 07:46 PM

I've been using Rota SubZeros w/Kumho V710s for 3 years of autoX and track days with no problems....and those have the bad design of the holes between the lug holes that are nearly squared. I honestly believe that Rota pays more attention to their wheels than the chinese/uber cheap wheels. I also think that Rota has put out many times the amount of wheels compared to many other brands. Even with a 1% defect rate, comparing 1% of 1 million wheels is going to be a lot more than 1% of 10,000 wheels....clearly one looks like it has "more failures". I've also had multiple sets that have held up to plenty of hard abuse (only 62% of Atlanta's roads are considered "acceptable"). I dunno...I'm not trying to turn this into a debate thread.

BTW- I alsoways get a giggle at people drinking PBR...like drinking FourLoko....it's kinda of a fun joke to do so...but you know they know better.

Fireindc 04-19-2011 08:10 PM

As a snowboard/ski bum in the winter, I fully endorse PBR.

I hate the fake "3 peice" look, my old enkeis have that look and I hate it. I also picked up my current wheels for $100.. So i deal with it. One day I'll stop drinking PBR and get some real wheels I guess.

15x6.5 and 15x7 with 205's. Mainly stock painted 99 wheels, Kosei K1, Prorace 1's,rota's, RPF1 if you were a balla. Once 6UL's came out you could be a balla on a budget.

to the op. Its def ok to run something different, just check weights and strength. As far as threads on "how does x part look" thats not how we roll here. If you want a flamming beat down feel free to ask how your dildo drift shifter looks. Now back on topic. Those wheels lool like your GF anus, bumpy and stretched.

This forum is super conservative. It is very much like miata.net except it is performance oriented not superstock oriented.

This is very, very true. Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, but it's very true.

Rushin 04-20-2011 12:35 PM

I don't think my car looks too bad with the axis wheels https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_u...0/DSC_0051.JPG

sleepermx5 05-09-2011 06:45 PM

@18psi. i know this does not portain to the subject at hand, but your miata is a freak.

falcon 05-09-2011 08:35 PM

The thing I don't seem to understand is why everyone makes a big deal over knockoff wheels here. I have one set of wheels for the track... light and purpose built and I could care less what I drive on on the street as long as it looks good. When I get flared I'm going to buy some Rota Shakotan in 15x9 +0 because I like them. Sure they cost the same as some 15x8 6UL, but who cares? Sure they are heavier.. but I'm not racing anyone on the street.

FRT_Fun 05-09-2011 08:45 PM

People give two shits if they are knock off for the most part. As long as they are functional. Do you know how cheap people on this forum are??? The only time function is not top priority here is when cheapness comes into play, and that is usually only on non mission essential parts.

Also just a pro tip, most people here wouldn't care if someone bought the wheels posted here. But the fact that they owned a whole thread, and were then poorly defended when disliked is why the shit storm started.

falcon 05-09-2011 09:02 PM

Yeah, I noticed how cheap this forum is.

Bah stop being a snob.

I bet 80% of the miatas out there are never revved over 4000RPM. There's nothing wrong with that. The non-performance-related-appeal is a good part of why there are shitloads of miatas out there.

Which is obviously great for the performance people.

There is something wrong with that. Its disgusting.

I also find the Barrett car auctions extremely disgusting.

18psi 05-10-2011 02:28 PM

Its pathetic, but like Fae said there is quite a big benefit in it for us.
You can find a super low mileage, completely unmolested, tip top condition miata pretty easily most places, whereas other cars like 240's and hondas you'd have to search for months to find a clean one.

That said this thread is gayer than a barrel of dicks and Rushin should just stop denying his ricer self and come out on cr.net already

eyebrows cover up gashes at the top of the headlights and prevent water from leaking in. So they actually serve a purpose.
Nice try.

Why don't you focus on making more power than overpaying for shitty ass rims?
Did you even break 200whp yet?

Rushin 05-11-2011 02:20 PM

Yeah? And slammed with rolled fenders is for some "functional" reason too? How about you keep your shit to yourself and run your mouth somewhere else.

18psi 05-11-2011 02:26 PM

Are you retarded?
How is my car slammed? It still has the OEM fenderliners and even on the biggest bumps/dips the wheels/tires come nowhere near rubbing. Only the rears are rolled and that's because of my previous sportmaxx that I got rid of. With current ride height/wheels they don't even need to be rolled.

You're a fucking ricer, and should just go buy a vw already or slap FATLACE stickers on your shit so you can be low and slow like the rest of the clubretard crowd.

You try to play both sides and are trying to slowly harbor in the hellagay movement onto the one site that is still nearly pure of that kinda fagotry. I will not let you do that. So fuck you. You make shitty threads, I will make shitty posts in them.
