I'd rather buy Rotas.

So much hate.. What's wrong with looking good? Not everyone builds their cars as light/strong/powerful as possible, some people simply like their car to look nice to daily drive.

I personally wouldn't spend that much on some knock-offs of knock-offs.. I like the "axis" looking ones but if I were to get them I'd buy the original Work Equips.. which are actually 3 piece..

Serious question. What was everyone on before 6uls came out?

18psi 04-19-2011 01:34 AM

Kosei k1's IMO

Sportmaxx 002, Kosei K1, Rota slipstream or one of the OEM sets.

Nothing wrong with looking good, but everyone has a different idea of what "good" is.

I got a set of 6UL's cause they not only look good, but they are strong and lightweight as well. Not to mention the price was good.

Seriously those eBay/super cheap-o brands of wheels are like the Natural Ice of the beer world- being the cheapest shit of cheap shits and everyone around knows that you'd be better off drinking your own piss after scooping it out of the porta-john. If you're going to be cheap, at least to it with a good cheap. I'd say Rota is about like PBR- sure it's cheap, but it get's the job done, it's been around awhile and it's generally not frowned upon.

Eh? I thought Rotas were frowned upon. Usually it's by snobs for copying expensive wheels, but there's lots of reports of casting related failures (probably from copying a forged design) on some of their lighter weight models. I wouldn't trust a rota wheel that had thin spokes or weighed less than a pound per inch of wheel diameter.

Doppelgänger 04-19-2011 07:46 PM

I've been using Rota SubZeros w/Kumho V710s for 3 years of autoX and track days with no problems....and those have the bad design of the holes between the lug holes that are nearly squared. I honestly believe that Rota pays more attention to their wheels than the chinese/uber cheap wheels. I also think that Rota has put out many times the amount of wheels compared to many other brands. Even with a 1% defect rate, comparing 1% of 1 million wheels is going to be a lot more than 1% of 10,000 wheels....clearly one looks like it has "more failures". I've also had multiple sets that have held up to plenty of hard abuse (only 62% of Atlanta's roads are considered "acceptable"). I dunno...I'm not trying to turn this into a debate thread.

BTW- I alsoways get a giggle at people drinking PBR...like drinking FourLoko....it's kinda of a fun joke to do so...but you know they know better.

As a snowboard/ski bum in the winter, I fully endorse PBR.

I hate the fake "3 peice" look, my old enkeis have that look and I hate it. I also picked up my current wheels for $100.. So i deal with it. One day I'll stop drinking PBR and get some real wheels I guess.

15x6.5 and 15x7 with 205's. Mainly stock painted 99 wheels, Kosei K1, Prorace 1's,rota's, RPF1 if you were a balla. Once 6UL's came out you could be a balla on a budget.

to the op. Its def ok to run something different, just check weights and strength. As far as threads on "how does x part look" thats not how we roll here. If you want a flamming beat down feel free to ask how your dildo drift shifter looks. Now back on topic. Those wheels lool like your GF anus, bumpy and stretched.

This forum is super conservative. It is very much like miata.net except it is performance oriented not superstock oriented.
