I've run Mickey Thompson DR's. They were good and better than V700 or Nitto 555 DR's at getting power down (2008). Or Hoosier DR's.

IF you are making 1000hp you aren't likely to find anything to hook that fits in the stock wheel well. You should trap roughly 130mph or more in the 1/8th mile If you are making that kind of power. I run hoosier 255/50/16 dr2's at maybe half that power and have et mid 6.50s at just under 110mph in the 1/8th mile. I had to modify the wells substantially to get them to fit.

Im curious as to your setup though.
What size turbo and what boost are you running? What cam is in your 6.0? What heads? What is the rear end setup? Are you really trying to drag race that thing with a manual transmission and a turbo ls? If so you may be disappointed. Keeping it together will be challenging.

I am going to test the waters with a set of 13x8 vms wheels and some 24.5x9.5x13 mh racemasters
see how it does.

as for the setup. I built it from the ground up, 100% of it on youtube til the past 6 months, my phone broke..... but that covers everything from bare tub to complete car, turbo LS.
going to redo the turbo kit here in the next 2 weeks or so.
its a VSR 78mm.....a little on the small side, ill grab 80+ a little later on.
i have 2 cams....... the first one being comp 54-454-11 and 2nd being sloppy best cam. I wanted to give the sloppy a shot because it has a better curve.
heads are unported 317.... comp springs, trunnion, etc.. Can probably pull a little more power with 706's but the 317's have been fine since day 1.
engine is now fully forged and balanced. headstuds, h beams, everything
Trans is t56 magnum...... well tr6060 converted to magnum..... upgraded the 2nd gear to a carbon fiber syncro and fork pads to bronze while i was in there
monster stage 3 clutch
rear end is stock 8.8 IRS

I think the weak link will be the axles...... when they go, im going to build a fresh set with 930cv's and 300m center shafts and inboard/outboard splines.
after that it should be fairly squared away

With a section width of 11+" you will likely have to do some "massaging" to fit.

Post up some numbers when you get it to the track. Looks to have at least upper 5s potential in the 1/8th with reasonable boost, but getting a short wheelbase, independent rear car on bias slicks and a stick shift down the track to get there will be the challenge.

Found your youtube channel. Good job on your project. What axles and hubs are you using? Maybe I missed that part on your videos. I've been weighing options on redoing my rear setup.
Have you had this down a dragstrip yet? If so what was your 1/8th mile trap speed? Trap speed is a very good indicator of power/weight and ultimate potential that takes the traction at launch out of the equation.

Thanks!
Axles are ebay doners with moser engineering center shafts. When i received the doners, i took them apart, installed the new shafts, and i had to grab some audi boots off of amazon for them to clear my coilovers [bc racing]....... Hubs were cheapie rockautos broached by martin at monster miata. New bearings and seals, winner winner.

I have not taken it down the strip yet...... hence why im asking for tire recommendations.
I will keep you updated via PM when that opportunity presents itself.

Yeah turbos’s still a little small for anything over 1000
Hit the nail on the head, I’ve never drag raced before so I’m not sure what to expect but I guess we’ll see.

Dont expect too much first time out.

I would expect some mid to high 5s in the 1/8th if it were an automatic. That is eventually, not first time out. With a glide or th400 It may get there once tested and properly dialed in with enough power, the right converter, gearing, traction, yada-yada...and with practice.

A manual really throws a wrench in things for a short wheelbase, independent rear car. Getting into the 5s period will be difficult with a manual I believe. You will have to run 5.80ish or better in the 1/8th to have 8 second 1/4 mile potential.

I had the dragy in my friends drag barreta last year on a pass. On that particular pass it went 5.72 at 122mph. Dragy recorded a 0-60 time of 1.65 seconds (with rollout) and 0-100 of 3.99 seconds. Most people have no idea how fast a car like that truly is until they ride in it. He has since replaced the engine that was used prior with a Scott Shafiroff 421 sbc and recorded a best so far of 5.47 at 127 with it. I havent dragy tested his car with the new setup, but will soon.

Falken tires are pretty good. Good grip but still able to get sideways if I want to. I use the Azenis model, I think that’s how it’s spelled
