Default Tire w/ great traction AND handling - what are my options?

I'm considering not getting MT DRs because JayL's "rides like a caddy" comment scares me.

What tire would you recommend for both straight line traction AND handling in the corners? I have 15x8 6ULs and after this tuesday, hopefully over 350hp. The car will never be driven in the rain.

NO WET TRACTION NEEDED

I am assuming you want something with tread that doesn't have to be heat cycled? Go with a ADVAN A048. They hook better than some drag radials and are mostly for road racing.

Right, no heat cycling, no warm up needed.

225 RA1, NT01, RS3, XS or you could search and see what everyone else is running.

That's what I saw. I'm kind of torn between r888, RS3, XS?

None will hook all that well if your making a decent amount of power on the street. Just modulate the skinny pedal till 3rd or 4th.

Realistically your choices here are limited by the 15 inch tire size. I think your best bet is the RS3-pretty darn sticky and comes in 225. Race tires like RA1, NT01 and R888 are all available in 225 as well but will have a much shorter lifespan on the street and won't be much fun to drive in cooler or wet conditions.
there are a number of other tires like the Advans etc but they only come in 205 in 15 inch so they wouldn't be an upgrade on the RS3s
For straight line I am assuming you mean drag racing, no street tire or race tire is going to be better than drag radials or even better slicks. Just buy a pair of cheap steelies, tire rack wheels etc and get some actual drag slicks for your rears and swap them for drag racing.

Dunlop starspecs would also fit this bill.

I forgot one thing. You could wait till next year when Emilio's friend puts out his 245 width DOT race tire in 15 inch sizes. The brand and specs have yet to be revealed.

It will be the NT01, I'm almost 95% sure.

No, I don't mean drag racing. I just mean street.

Just get used to replacing tires annually and run NT01's. At 350, you'll smoke them in first which will heat them up enough to kind of grab in second if you have a decent gear (3.6) and boost lag helps you out.

Mmm. 245/40-15

I think both the Miata and the CRX would like that.

NT01s are great tires. For street tires they have virtually no tread markings so they SUCK in the rain(I live in Portland, OR mind you). They are also quite noisy so if you do a lot of highway driving they will probably annoy you(they annoyed me until I got a really loud TXS exhaust and then that annoyed me more on my STI)
I still say the the RS3s are the best for a street tire. There are good reasons why lots of people in the Miata community run them.

Advan Neova or Advan A048...then the NT01/R888, R1R, Z1 Star Spec, RS3. I still wish the A032 was available...or 15" sizes for the Pirelli P-Zero Corsa.

you never said anything about wet traction lol
