Default Would appreciate some wheel/ tire recommendations

This has probably been discussed many times but I could not find much on it and thought I'd ask. I would like some wheel and tire recommendations for my nb1.

I'm planning a build and hope to get 300-350hp but I know I'm going to need a new wheel setup and not sure what to go for.

This will be primarily a street car that sees no winter driving but the fall weather here can get quite cool. I'd like to find something that can give me grip but also last. I'm probably asking for a lot lol. I'm not into setting records or competing I just want a decent combo.

As far as wheels will a 15x9 be good enough or should I go up or down in width? TIA hope to hear from some of you.

This is the way. Don't be like me. I bought 15x8's thinking that would be plenty, then decided I wanted to run 225's, so I bought 15x9's, and now I wanna run 245's and 11.75 Supermiata brakes so I'm once again shopping for wheels, this time in 15x10 flavour.

15x10 fit in an NB with just a fender roll? :O (assuming a set of Xidas installed in the car)

So are you guys saying 300hp and up requires 15*10?

I was also going to shop for wheels (15*8) soo with a 250hp target but dreams of more..

yeah you really want the widest tire if you are going to make more than 250. I'm at 250hp right now and had grip problems with a 15x8

I run 225"s on 8" wheels and 300hp with no problem. Primarily because it's an NA and they don't fit larger sizes well without substantial body mods. The key is to run good 200tw tires and make sure they're always in good condition. The traction is more than adequate.. With that said I have a second set of 8" wheels with 205 ECS's and run those in weather and their not terrible. Does require some extra throttle control, but they do move the car well. It does depend on how you drive. IMO with 300hp I believe a 245 would be slower at the track then a 225. I have run 225 slicks before BFG R1's and feel that would be a better option. 300whp might be a different story.

That has not been our experience.

Higher corner speeds with lower acceleration and lower top straight speed. They're at least 5lbs/corner heavier, and the engine has to accelerate all 4, plus the extra aero drag. I know your all about the largest tire one can fit and at some power level more traction will prevail. My point was with a 300hp/260whp engine a 225 is probably and from my experience the best size. I guess the track does matter. A tighter track like Button or Laguna maybe it's a wash, but big willow might be a different story.

I'm not guessing. We have run 200-400whp Miatas with and without aero on just about every track in California, and several outside of CA.. a few hundred hours worth. A 300whp Miata is going to be faster on 245's on any track over one one 225's. For auto-x, 275/295 will be faster still.
The Supermiata race series we created back in 2013 had an a S1 (turbo) class for several years. Those were 220whp and measurably faster on 245's. The rules I wrote for the series allowed 245's because our data showed they were faster and lasted longer. More fun too of course

I'm willing to believe a full race car with a rollcage and aero would be faster. With a dual-purpose car without a cage I disagree, and I have done some testing. Especially with the NA chassis that is less stiff. I do drive a 300hp turbo nearly every day, so I do have some experience. I guess we will have to disagree on this one.
