15x8 or 15x9 6UL's

I would like to buy a set of 15x8 or 15x9 6UL's that are in good condition (Basically no curb rash and not bent). I would prefer bronze but any color would be fine.

charchri4 05-16-2013 02:27 PM

You and me both! I bet 949 could sell twice as many wheels if they ever had them in stock. I finally gave up waiting and went with another brand.

RedCarmel 05-16-2013 02:48 PM

I think most sizes/colors are in stock right now. I got mine from Phil's Tire Service when both 949 and Goodwin were sold out.

18psi 05-16-2013 02:53 PM

Pretty sure GoodWinn has them in stock right now

Looks like they have a few 15x8s left and some 15x10s. Better hurry.

Ryan_G 05-16-2013 03:12 PM

I know I can get them new. I am in no hurry to get them and figured if a good used deal comes up I would snag them. If not I will buy them from a vendor when my current tires wear out which won't be too much longer.

charchri4 05-16-2013 03:16 PM

I looked everywhere about a month ago and couldn't find anything. My new not 6ULs arrived on Monday...

Ryan_G 05-16-2013 03:20 PM

What did you go with? I was also considering konig flatouts and kosei k4r's but the konig's cannot fit a TSE BBK if I ever wanted to upgrade and I am unsure about the Kosei's which are not much cheaper then the 6UL though they include the lugs.

I came really close to pulling the trigger on some bronze Konig flat outs but ended up ordering Drag DR54s bronze only for the amazing color. I would have been a little concerned about a ton of track time with them or the Konigs but thought they would be OK for auto x and every day. Turns out they were back ordered till mid to end of June and I'd like to have them before then so that fell apart.

Meanwhile I scored a set of used fender flairs cheap and that changed everything because now I can include 0 offest wheels in the hunt. So what I went with is STR 513s which are a China knock off of a real wheel. They are 15x8 with 0 offset. I'll probably find a set of real wheels and a hard top over the winter for track use but these will look nice for now. BTW the car will be black with gold Shelby strips that will ruffly match the wheel color.

thenuge26 05-16-2013 05:29 PM

Damn, if they are 0 offset that doesn't help. I'll eventually be looking for something to fit the TSE BBK, not a lot of options in 15x8 besides 6ULs that I can find at least...

charchri4 05-16-2013 05:32 PM

You can get the DR54s in +15 offset which with a little rolling should squeeze under the car. Drag DR-54

str = bottom of the barrel junk

thenuge26 05-16-2013 05:45 PM

Yeah if the +25 Flatouts don't fit I would find it EXTREMELY hard to believe a +15 DR-54 would fit.

I have an NB so I don't care about fender clearance, I care about BBK fitment.

charchri4 05-16-2013 07:27 PM

Jason is running +20 and they fit so I figured 15 would work OK with a little more messaging.

Roger that!

I'm not trying to hate, I'm just sayin if you were looking for 6UL's and ended up with some STR's that's a huge downgrade and the two shouldn't even be compared.

I can't believe people would pick something like Drag or STR when there are like 3 different styles of Konig that look great, are higher quality, and way lighter for almost the same price.

charchri4 05-16-2013 11:02 PM

No prob. I'm not so sure Konig is really that much better though. Not any lighter for sure. I guess as long as they are cast and have 8 lugs I'm not seeing much difference. I at least would not put them in the same class as pressure formed wheels the 949s or Rotas are. I almost bit on a set of Rotas and maybe I should have.

Ryan_G 05-16-2013 11:11 PM

konig flatouts are 1.5 lbs lighter per corner.

15x8 +20 (Konig Flatouts) with 205/50 R888's here, 4/4.25" pinch weld heights.

Attachment 185431

But I did a flat roll and pulled them a bit, so I'm not as good a comparison point.

I also want to eventually go with 15x9 6ULs.........but I don't like the idea of using wheels on track that I may not be able to get a replacement for months if something happens.
