Default NB 6 speed stock shift ****.

I just purchased a 6 speed that comes with the shifter, but without the stock shift ****. I assume I can transfer my 5 speed **** onto it, but I would prefer to have the correct ****... so anybody who has upgraded your shift **** and have the stock one sitting collecting dust shoot me a reply!

The leather wrapped MSM ***** are absolutely beautiful compared to the stock 5-speed plasti-rubber *****. Unfortunately, they're nowhere near as durable. The finish on it probably would have lasted longer if I didn't have a sharp-edged ring on my right middle finger.

Still, it was nice while it was pretty.

Don't limit your search to a pristine example of a shift ****, it'll be impossible to find - unless you're buying it direct from mazda for over $100.

I'd just swap over the 5 speed **** or find a cheap aftermarket ****. I've always run voodoo ***** and really like them; they're cheap, durable, and look great. Goodwinracing sells them. Like fooger says, the leather on the stock ***** you're looking for has pretty much disintegrated in the last 10-15 years. Even if you do find a mint condition ****, I wouldn't expect it to last too long.

I have a nice condition MSM ****. I should also have a 6spd "Nardi" OEM **** around here somewhere.

Our MSM had a brand new MSM **** on it. Still looked brand new 3 years later. The trick is to not be a dirty bastard and drive your car with clean hands.

Keith, how far is Rosedale from Indy?

Oh excuuuuuuuuuse me for asking in the middle of a post in a friendly manner towards someone who resides in my same state that has expressed interest in a wrenching "meet" for our area before how far he is from where i work, play, ****, eat, and sleep.

The point was that we could probably meet up/hand off the **** if said meet ever materialized.

Now go buy another accordian'd car. <3

Takes me about an hour and 20 min to reach Indy via US36, and if they would stop construction about the same on I70. With construction God only knows how long a trip on I70 will take from day to day.

I received the 6 speed today (77,000 miles, from a 2003, shifts beautifully according to seller) and started the swap process. I have most of the exhaust off and out of the way, all the electrical hangers on the power plant frame released... just need to get the damn down pipe out of the way. The shifter on the 6 speed needs a new small shifter boot, so I ordered a bushing kit and small shifter boot today.

I want the 6 speed shift **** mainly for esthetics. But also, the first 6 speed car I had (3000GT VR-4) I took in for an alignment and the dumbass trying to pull it off the lift put it in 6th and wondered why it wouldn't move backwards. I am hopeful that having a 6 speed pattern on the **** will help avoid this in the Miata (even though the shift pattern was on the 3000GT's shift ****)
