Default Open (or Torsen) 7" Differential Swap - *NEW QUESTION

Anyone in Texas have a rear end that won't look like hustler's busted *** sphincter when I turn up the boost?

I have a 6" 1.6L unit...and a backup...but don't want to find myself on the side of the road. My commute takes me through 75miles of little-traveled farmland, and I've seen Deliverance too many times.

I want a Torsen...but don't quite have the coin, so just need something that I don't have to worry about...and can put in a clutch type LSD later.

Thanks,

Damon

get an open diff and save up for torsen or clutch-type lsd. once you have enough $, purchase new internals and swap them in.

I have a line on a local RX7 clutch pack that I could swap into a levnubbin open later.

Right now I can afford one, or the other...but not both.

Make it a TorSen and you've got a deal. lol

I know I should get the open first, but then I know I won't see another deal like this (especially local) for the exact LSD and gearset I'm looking for.

I have a plug and play 1.8/RX7 setup available or even a Torsen if you insist on it.

I'd rather have the RX7 clutch type...

Right now I'm looking at wine on a kool-aid budget though. I'll probably have to just get an open to stay on the road worry-free for now, and put in an LSD later.

I'm liking levnubbin's deals, especially after calling most of the jokes of Mazda junkyards we have here in Texas. Just gotta save up enough to PM him and pick my ratio.

PMing you anyhow miatanutz.

Seriously looking forward to picking one up though.

I had planned on putting it back in...but PM me an offer and I'll think about it.

If the rollbar goes I've got a harness bar that would naturally go with it, as well as a Sabelt harness.

Default New question

I've worked out a (great) deal on a 3.90 LSD swap with levnubbin.

These are the Tochigi-Fuji Super LSDs which are occasionally known to break their cone-clutch tabs.

Anyone think this diff will have problems with 200-250whp?

How can yo tell if these are Tochigi-Fuji Super LSDs? Is it the weird Torsen w/ a bar when you look through it? It has that spring too?

Forget it found my answer on m.net. Yes to both of the above and 2003+.

Yeah...if you look through it you see a bar...so it looks like an open (I was going to be happy to have a 3.90 7" open)...but that bar is actually a hex bar, not round.

The springs are a preload for the outer gears which are pushed into a conical clutch.
