Most are JDM motors and I'm looking to get something local before I have to have something shipped. And honestly the ones I did find online seemed to be overpriced.

Why can't you use a JDM engine? If you think you'll find a better deal on a low mileage VVT engine than what the recyclers on here are offering them I wish you luck. I've never seen it in the Denver area.

I was advised to stay away. I'm under the impression that there are some slight variations in the US and JDM market engines. My knowledge of miatas isn't vast, however. I'm just trying to cast a wide net! Is there a recommended recycler to use if I do go that route? Thanks for the reply.

AFAIK at minimum the long blocks are interchangable.

You should do your own research on the current retailers. I've seen mixed reviews at times but I would still trust them over a random Craigslist engine.

Understood. And I think you are correct, the long block should be interchangeable, I think it's just a few odds and ends that are different. I'm running an FM2 kit on a recently acquired car, so just trying to stay as safe as possible by replacing it with exactly what it currently has in it.Still more research to do!

I bought an UK motor from Yossi about 8 months ago. I just used the longblock. Everything fit and works fine. Only issue was UK motor had rusty threads in ac mount, as it never had ac. Tapped out clean with no problem.

Hey Joe, thanks for the reply. Were you able to retain your stock ECU with the EUDM motor? I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to use the EU longblock like you did with my current US manifolds/accessories/ECU/harness.

I have a megasquirt but all factory sensors are in the same place. You could sell the square top to recoup some money. Just use your manifold.
