WTB - '00 Air Bag Computer

Ok, I need that light to stop flashing. Has anyone stripped out their dash, or is otherwise not using their air bag computer? I put in new bags, didn't fix it, so I guess that's the next thing to try.

It's kinda a pain to get to, in fact, any pointers on getting to it would be appreciated :-)

I have one. PM if interested.

try changing your clock spring

AbeFM 04-06-2010 03:11 PM

You mean, pull the computer out and pull it apart, then get a new spring? Sounds risky, don't want to pull it apart twice?

Then again, this must be a low budget project here. :-) Where do you get a spring? I gotta keep this project under $75

miatanutz 04-06-2010 03:18 PM

I have a good clock spring assy.
Thye just switch out easily.

AbeFM 04-06-2010 03:49 PM

Want to pay me to take it? Or trade for a TV? It comes with a free, bonus tv!

AbeFM 04-06-2010 06:07 PM

Does anyone have any idea if that's what makes them go bad? I'm just getting the regular "double blink"....

miatanutz 04-06-2010 08:03 PM

PM sent

Er, are any of these '00 computers? Apparently there are differences between the '00 and '01, so the '01 I have doesn't work. :-(

I still don't really know if it's the clock spring or not, I guess that I can test, but I sort of doubt it?

miatanutz 05-08-2010 09:06 AM

I have both the correct clock spring and control module for an '00.
01+ are not the same.

AbeFM 05-09-2010 03:09 PM

Thanks guys - checked the clock spring according to the manual, it looks good, so I think all I need is a no-flashing-lights main computer. :-) Probably from whomever has the shortest delivery times to san diego. :-)

I wonder if I still remember how to drive stick?

Abe, the one from our salvage '01 is still there I think.
