Default WTB: early 6-speed shift lever

Short version: my six speed needs an early small-end shift lever. I may try to turn down the one I have, but I'm not counting on that working.

Does anyone have a shifter that fits the early six speeds?

Linky to relevant discussion/info

Thanks in advance.

For the 6 speed you're going to want an aftermarket shifter. The MiataRoadster works with both I believe, just have to get the appropriate sized delrin bushing.

This is correct. The MR shifter has a early small ball and they just supply a larger bushing to fit later shifter cup.

So, I'm not quite sold on the MR shifter yet because I'm not exactly sure how it actually improves the 6-speed, other than shortening the shifts by (apparently) changing the arm length.

I'm wary of the 6 speed; I understand with the 4.1 rear end I'll probably use only 3/4/5 and need to watch for missed shifts, presumably into either 1 or 2. I'd think that that crazy $1000 German shifter is the solution there, but I'm way too cheap to go there right out of the gate (pun intended).

At this point the MR shifter would be just another expense in the long-blown budget, but I don't quite know which problem it solves.

Thoughts?

I have the G Racing short throw on my 6spd trans and absolutely love it. You can see it in my build thread (link in sig). Would 1000% never go back to the OEM 6spd shifter as I routinely found 3rd hard to find on track which was extraordinarily annoying. The miss shift problem goes away with either the MR or GR shifters in my experiences driving either of them.

Still looking. Had a couple of questionable n00bs send PMs. One was banished, the other didn't respond to simple questions.
