It came off a running car that was in my driveway. It hasn't been to the machinist and isn't wrapped in a heavy plastic bag if that's what you mean. It is a working, serviceable head.
It looks like rebuilt exchange heads are available all over the place for $350 for the 1.6 if you have a good core and you pay shipping on top of that for both the core and the one you are buying. If you want a completely rebuilt one that will be an option.
What is wrong with yours? Warped? Cracked?
