Type 1 preferred, or FC clutch style but will settle for a T2

Educate me, please. Why the preference for Type 1?

Do you have a preferred ratio? or do you plan to supply your own gearset?

Light googling indicates type 1st favor acceleration, but mostly because i had one before; i liked it and found it predictable. I already have a gearset (3.6), i just need the innards, edited for clarity.
