A buddy of mine ran his car for two track days consecutive on a lesser tranny oil. By the end I couldn't get the thing in third gear without a slight grind. Drove it home like that. Figured that synchro was gone.
On a whim, we decided to put the motorcraft in just to see what happens. No more grind. I'm a believer.

Syncromesh is the only reason im not on my third trans. So far, i get about 20 track days on a change.

Dash looks like mine after every track day. Im going to make it a habit to scratch 18 into it and take a picture every time. We could start a photo collection and call it "forever 18".

How is your transmission shielded from the exhaust?

This.

Someone should start a thread just on this. I'd love to see how anyone has done this. On my car the downpipe is close to the transmission near the bellhousing.

I am a huge believer in AMSoil. My engine internals in my Subie after 61K of AMSoil was very healthy. My buddies shop that built the engine couldn't believe there was 61K on my internals prior to the build.

Currently running AMSoil Dominator Oil, Tranny Fluid and Syncromesh.

I saw it also posted by Sean. It came highly recommended from my cousin for the transmission I am running. Which is how I ended up running it.

AMSoil Link

AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid is a premium-quality synthetic lubricant designed to surpass the most demanding lubrication requirements of manual transmissions and transaxles where non-extreme-pressure fluids are used.

AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid protects gears and bearings in extreme temperatures. It outperforms conventional oils and delivers outstanding performance from -40F to 300F, and it maximizes energy efficiency and resists the effects of heat, oxidation, sludge and varnish deposits.

Unlike its mineral oil counterparts, AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid prevents the thinning effects of mechanical shear for stable viscosity, superior film strength and excellent anti-wear performance. It protects against corrosion, keeps seals soft for long life, and is compatible with brass synchros for smooth synchromesh shift quality.

Ideal for Many General Motors, Chrysler, Honda and Other Vehicles
AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid is a higher quality, lower cost replacement for multiple vehicle manufacturer-branded products. This premium synthetic formulation provides enhanced anti-wear protection and lasts longer in service. AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid exceeds the performance requirements of both manual transmissions and transaxles.

Excellent for Service Centers
AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid is a versatile transmission lubricant. It reduces inventory needs, is readily available and is cost-effective compared to vehicle manufacturer-branded products.

Performance Features

Reduces friction, heat and wear
Superior high-temperature stability
Resists heat, oxidation, acid buildup and varnish
Improves cold-weather shifting
Applications

GM made some **** transmissions, they wouldnt shift, they were recalled, sycromesh fluid was "the fix". Any s10 with an NVxx00 trans wont shift worth a **** without it.

It works great to limp along failing synchros in other trannys. You can also just add the friction package on its own.

What I'd like to know is how are you guys getting away with running that Syncromesh stuff (which is a 5w-30) when the manual calls for 75w-90 which a lot thicker...

I wouldn't change your order...

I know about it. Hailey's jeep has an NV3550. We seriously thought the thing was dead at 150k. Wouldn't stay in gear, barely would go in gear.

I did a kerosene flush and syncromesh and it was like brand new.

Saved >500$
