From what I've read so far the DTC-60's should be fine with other stuff on the rotors, it'll just grind it off. But I could be wrong. I need to measure my pads and see how much wear I put in them. But I was getting some fade at times so I think I'm going to put the 1.8's on this week.

This was at an SCCA track night. I've spent a lot of time bitching about it already. This was in the intermediate group. This quote from the guy running the night when I talked to him about changing classes.

50-60% of the entrants are first timers. The novice group makes up 30% of the people there. Intermediate had quite a few peoe who said, I have a fast car. And I've dicked around on the streets I shouldn't be in novice.

It was the same way at HPT for bike days, I actually had someone straight up run into me down the middle of the main straight over 140 or so, just straight ran into the back of me, lol. I still don't know how I kept it up, because I remember looking at the pit wall there for a second or two. Then I'd go get stuck behind some slow as hell retarded old hipster junk...
Intermediate filter best filter.

Alright you guys talked me out of this once before, let's see if you can do it again.
Rods in my 1.6....
Hear me out. This last track day I ran full body just because I wanted the ego boost of blowing by stis and ****. And I gotta say I loved it. The car was perfect. Just enough power to stomp on it on the straights. But I wasn't loosing the rear end or anything like that when putting the power down. Basically I had a blast and don't need anymore for the track. It was perfect.
But I want reliability, breaking a torsen last month and now a 5 speed, the rods are my weak link. I know not to wheel hop my torsen and a 6 speed is going in.
I have a VVT motor in my garage. But my dreams for that build exceed what I can do right now in the next year. I need to back off a little and focus on some other stuff in life.
So if I could take what I have now, and eliminate the possibility of ventilating my block I think I would be a happy camper.
Can rods be replaced from the bottom? Could I pull the engine this winter and throw in rods without even pulling the head?
Another plus is that now that I've broken both the torsen and 5 speed, although the replacements cost me nothing, I lost money by not being able to sell the 4.1 and the 5 speed. When the VVT motor is ready I could sell the turbo, and motor combo as a drop in reliable 220hp option.
I guess it all boils down to can I put rods in for just the cost of rods, bearings and oil pan sealing?
This would also let me experiment with flex fuel and e85 before tuning for big power in the future.
....
Alright I'm done, talk me out of it.

I've posted the cheapest you can do a rods-only setup. It's about 500 if you already have a motor to use, but 500 includes rods/fluids/gaskets and can turn a wrench yourself.
