Started the install! I'm going to use rivnuts (aka nutserts, popnuts) to bolt the flares onto the car. The installation tools were between $40 and $100 so I opted to make one at work...(The black button head cap screws are temporary...I'll be getting stainless fasteners)

Just more install pictures of the flares...it took a little longer than I thought it would, but I suppose its because I wanted to put them on to the best of my ability. All I have left to do is trim out all the excess material on the fenders to make room for some rubber!
Couple pointers from my experiences to those of you that will be undertaking this project:
1) You may want to put one additional fastener on each of the front flares on the side towards the doors on the underside of the fender....when I first bolted them on they fit nicely, but since the flare continues on a few inches past that last fastener the flare wasn't nice and tight there. On the rear, I added two additional fasteners, one on the door side just like on the front flares (Underneath on the rocker) and one underneath on the rear bumper to hold the flare nice and tight on the bumper....
2) (2) of the bolt locations on each of the rear flares is backed with another piece of sheet metal roughly 1/2" behind the body skin.. I posted pictures to point out which holes have this....just keep this in mind as you proceed. Since I was using the rivnut, the piece behind interfered, so I drilled my hole in the skin, then put a hurtin on the back piece with a pry bar and hammer to give me clearance for my rivnut....
Anyways on to the pictures:

Beyond the slight color mismatch they look great. The only problem is they cover up the rear light. Any plans for that? Pictures with the holes and no flares really show how high up they mount, impressive. Outside pics, now!

Well I got everything all trimmed up today (I think those of you with prettier cars than mine are going to have a heart attack when you go to do this ) . The front fenders were a breeze…the rears, not so much. On the fronts I just traced the outline of the flare, then took it off and drew another line about an inch in from the one I traced. On the rears I measured about 2.25” from the center of the fender edge up and then free handed the tapers in….I think I have some clearance now

Unfortunatly I don't have easy access to a welder ...everything I do that needs welding I usually just bring in to work and do it....I can't imagine the structural integrity would be affected that much. I may put some sort of epoxy or sealer on the joint though...

can you do some testing for us.............put a decent sealant on there, let it cure and then go out and do come hard cornering to see if there is any cracks or anything in the area from flex..................please?
