I got some work done this weekend. I picked up the head, painted the valve cover, drilled the oil pan, cleaned the engine block and bay a bit. I also ordered some parts with the money from my hard top. ARP studs, and coolant block off plate are on their way from Begi. The china GT2870 should be arriving this week also.
Im now strongly considering throwing some money on a build block so I bought Gayderface's pistons. It will take a while as I want to get the car running ASAP and collect parts as time goes by. Im hoping to have something by Christmas break.
As for this week I plan to get some of the coolant re-route done. I was planning on doing the BMW t-stat re-route, but now Im leaning more towards the regular re-route minus the heater, is less plumbing, less drilling, and I don’t need the heater. With that said I have a couple of questions:
1. Can I just drill and tap the spacer, or do I heed a bung for the temp sensor?
2. Whats the best method to seal a gastket? (T-stat)
3. Should I put some JB weld on the drain plug?
4. Check out the pic of the main front oil seal and tell me if is aight.
Thanks

This is how the car sits now.

Update. I did some work on Saturday. The head is 90% ready to be dropped in to the car. The water neck on the front is now plugged and the spacer has been drilled and taped already. Im waiting on the fittings for the temp sensor and heater to arrive tomorrow, and the re-route shall be done.
As I started to put things together, I noticed what little pieces I’ve lost. One of the plastic spacers from the fuel rail seems to be missing. So now I have extra parts to sort out. Hopefully it wont be a PITA.
The GT2870 from speedyracer got here over the weekend. The flange is now drilled for 10mm studs and is mounted onto the manifold. Although now I have to sort out the fittings since it seems none of the Garrett ones fit.
I had a little trouble getting the ******* crank seal in. I completely butchered the one I had so I had to get another one . I also have to replace the cam seals, but I’ll wait till the head is back in the car to do so.
Things left to do: (off the top of my head)
Crank/Cam seals
Sort Turbo fittings
Finish the Drain
Install wp/tb and accessories
Route hot-side piping
Finish coolant re-route
Put the head back into the car
Hope everything is good and have the car sent to the exhaust shop for a DP
Funny this is the same code on my "Garrett" turbo hmmm
