I bet the 99 head has a dowel in it. And so does the 95 block.

I bet the 95 head doesnt have a dowel in it.

Only thing I can think of, I asked if he checked for dowels. What else could it possibly be?

I'm looking at pictures and can't come up with anything else that should be in the way.

No pictures, just his description. The ones I'm looking at are just off google. Block and head surfaces...

How much would you guys pay for a disassembled 95 protege 1.8 longblock?

I still need an oil pan, intake, and throttle body. Those things look to be the most expensive parts...

I would pay a bit more than that for a block with a good crank.
They aren't as easy to come by in some parts.

Well hell, I think I might offer $200-$300. I'm helping the guy piece stuff together so, I'm sure he'd be reasonable, he seems like a good guy.

They've got whole good 1.8's around $400 here, but another $100 at a minimum for a core I wouldn't get back.

If I had a 1.8 I would run allofit after 5500 rpm on this little 1.6 till it went kaboooooom! I think it would last, I want to see if it's longer than the 5 speed, crank pulley, or oil pump.

I should have the injectors for it

I can come break a 5 speed for you with a lot less than all of it if you want.

It must break while in powaa, 4th gear as the extra boost kicks in.

I should really find a six speed first, though...

I may have just made a deal on a complete long block for $150, if that helps you negotiate.

I offered $250, seems reasonable to me.

Was it you that bought the 5 speed with extra gear for ridiculous cheap?

Edit, whoops lol

Hmmm, that place is less than an hour from me... Going to have to remember that is there.

Also, they say shipping to Kansas is $249 if you look further along in the ad.

It really shouldn't be too much., relatively.
I arranged to pick mine up at a local freight company to avoid the lift gate fee.
That will save you $100 right there.
