Reliability costs a lot of money at high horsepower numbers.

Have you thought about upgrading everything behind the transmission as well? I have to think the diff/axles would be ready to explode too.

The tko is a damn good trans, we run a kit car cobra on one. shifts smooth, take all the abuse you can throw at it. should be good for your application, if you can get all the details worked out. here is a good bit of info about the tko 500 & 600.

A good brake and clutch shop should be able to put new hubs on his current discs.

Driveshaft-
http://southwestspeed.com/?sec=view_...um+Driveshafts

Rear flange-
http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/

The Miata flange is the same size as an NA FC flange.

If he's serious about trying to make and hold serious power, it'd be a good time to get a 7.5 rear end before he chunks the 3.6 Miata rear.

Min-Why 8500 rpm? Drop it to 7500-7800 and you'll make shifting easier and engine life will improve.

I can get new discs with splines for pretty much everything from Competition Clutch for $200 total.

Yeah, the custom or chpnmwnws66's link is $300

8500RPM? Because of powerband. Turbo spools late.

I think I need to take a serious pause and re-examine my build. Honestly, I think that if I am going to spend $2000-$3000 more on a driveline, I probably should not have it centered around the BP motor.

Obviously though, I have sunk a large amount of money into that platform. Motor, mani, dp, IC, exhaust etc... Maybe I should lower my sights a little bit and aim for 500ish. Regular ol' six speed should be able to support that. Maybe I should do a dyno with my turbo, then put on a six speed and a sm sm ugh can i say it? smaller turbo.

Welcome to hot rodding and the constant conflict in it.

You can have your cake and eat it too, but its going to cost a pretty penny. A smaller turbo that doesn't have to spin to 8500 to make power might not be a bad thing if you want a comfortable reliable street car. If your doing this for dyno numbers, then keep the big turbo.

That is the only relevant thing you have said in like the last 5 pages of your build thread.

No need to knock him for actually(FINALLY) thinking logically... We've all had the "bigger is better" motto. Some of us have been stupid enough to ruin MULTIPLE cars in that quest while still learning.

Puhhh-lease.
He's gone ***** out batsh!t crazy on this build for the past year and you think he's actually going to settle for "average/mediocre" now?
Get off his nuts. If I know anything about fae, then that post was just an emo moment and he'll be back to his regular 'ol self shortly.

Yeah- all great visionaries have moments of self doubt. So- it's time to dissolve the college funds for the non-existent kids and go for the 1000ftlb setup.

when i had my ms3, a lot of people wondered how so much fail could be encompassed by one person (me)...
now watching from the outside, i find myself wondering the same thing.
then i stop thinking about that, and then i laugh!

So what you're saying is:
230whp car running 365 days/year > 550whp car running 1 day a year?

I'm trying to grasp this concept, but having a little trouble. Bear with me please.
