Get it now, it should get made by the spring.. maybe summer.

Jokes aside though i've purchased few things from them and so far no delays. Never purchased made part by begi though. My dp/trubo/mani was also used. The only thing you could consider "made" was the hose kit for the turbo/oil/water lines and that shipped in 2 days.

Sick wagon! That was my fathers first Subaru WRX. I blame that car for my obsession with cars. We lived in Kansas when he go it and if anyone has experience with Kansas farmers dirt roads you'll know I had a lot of fun in it. Perfect dirt roads(better than tarmac) and a whole lot of sliding.

How do you like the bugeye vlad? That has always been my favorite WRX, something about that body style is classic. Almost like the NA vs NB/NC miatas. It just has rounder sexier lines in my opinion.

One day I'm going to get into one for cheap and keep it forever. I'll probably trade my scoob for one with a blown motor or something, once i get it running..

I think a 02/03 like that with a rod knock would be fun to put a closed deck 22t into with forged guts and make a sweet hybrid screamer.

They are awesome cars and parts are really cheap for them these days.

Trying to find an unmolested one seems harder the finding a clean NA though. I remember when I was considering buying one it was impossible to find one that hadn't been "bro'd out".

They look damn good when murdered out too. A closed deck 22t would be a hoot.

Sick little Subie, looks like fun. Can't believe the resale value on those buggers.

Right? I have no idea why. The only thing I've seen hold value better is an older manual transmission Jetta wagon diesel. If you can pick up one of those cheap; do some maintenance on it and flip it. They still sell for around 8-10k.

I looked into them before getting my 2nd miata.. private owners wanted more for used junked subbies with 200k miles on them in my area than new Evos price tag.

What specific VHT product did you end up using? I'm thinking I may do this with all the aluminum things as well, they are just so damn pretty when they are clean.

Also, this thread needs updates

VHT satin clear.

The update is that there isn't an update. I already posted my drama with BEGi in another thread, but here's the ultra condensed summary of it just cause I don't feel like re-typing it all up again.

BEGi dropped the ball on the parts, as they are known to do. After a handful of lies from Stephanie, then her ignoring my emails altogether, and my phone call to them yesterday, and my post in the other thread, Corky himself PM'd me and apologized. Promised to make sure I get the parts asap.

I'm still waiting for the freaking manifold and downpipe. For the fourth time I'm promised an ETA, at the end of this week. I'm hoping this time its not a lie. We'll see.

Bitchen' Thanks V, ordered a can today. Now I just need to find someone local who will let me use their blaster.

Sorry for the frustration. I'm still not done cobbling my **** together either so I feel your pain on that one. Sucks being held up by something outside your control.

Ah, that blows man. That helps me make the decision to go FM instead of BEGI.

On that topic (and at risk of starting THAT conversation...)...

Why do you use BEGI manifolds and downpipes instead of FM stuff? You mentioned to me that you love FM's no electronics kit (obviously for lower power goals) but considering this build and your previous one is using a BEGI cast manifold, I'm curious.

Because I think the begi manifold is better designed. I know they are both just logs, but the little divider and flow "path" in the begi one, IMO should definitely make it flow a teensy weensy bit better vs the pulses from 1&4 ramming each other head on, then changing direction and going into the turbo. Like I said, its not a big deal but I'm OCD so stuff like that bothers me. Another is the use of m8 studs which are known to fail with time no matter what. Been there done that. m10's will at least last longer IMO. ideally you want inco but whatever. As for the dp, the begi piece is cheaper. If you get the fm "kit" they make the dp and mani very cheap, but if you buy separately, the dp alone is $440 or something, for a 2.5" downpipe. So no bueno there.

And the only reason I didn't stick with a tubular or custom setup is because I want to install, tune and be DONE. I'm DONE with this car, once its all together and tuned I just want to drive it, and not do anything else, ever. Just enjoy the car. Sick of wrenching and wrenching and never really enjoying my cars.

That all makes sense, and I've been thinking that exact same thing. I was comparing photos of the insides of the manifolds and it looks like the FM mani does have some flow directing, but not as much as the BEGI unit.

vs

Interesting.

Been doing a lot of research myself. Perhaps I will start an advice thread/pre-build thread soon, prob in a month or two.

Thanks for sharing.

This. I was VERY impressed with how smooth the inside of the runners were, how they pointed to the turbine itself, and how well "port matched" the exhaust ports were on my new BEGI unit. Pretty decent for a log manifold, I must say.

Maybe I should start a support group

Thanks guyths. yeah I'm not changing anything on this car/setup. My next car will be something I will commit to not do any long term projects or mods on. Simple bolt ons and drive drive drive.

Doesn't look that way to me. Also didn't look that way to me looking them over in person:
