WTF was your big end clearance? Like 0.004"+? I've seen people run 0.0025" and never get rod knock and thats pretty ******* loose for an import.

I dont know what the clearance was. My builder assured me repeatedly that the clearances were perfect. I dont know man. And they were ACL Race bearings. If this happened on factory bearings, Id really be screwed

Anyone on here wanna rebuild the block for me? Every shop around here wants way too much cash just to rebuild the bottom end. Like 1200-1400 bucks.

I will probably be in this too if someone wants to take on the job.

Have you built a motor before? It is not that hard. Just have the machine work done, and get someone who has done it before to help you.

How far south are you?

I agree it really isn't difficult. I'll be assembling mine since I have trust issues. At least with the machine shop I can inspect/check/measure it without much effort.

Brother, that realy focking sucks! I am originaly from Deltona / Orange city.

I would had been glad to do the job just for the trade of (turbo) knowledge. But, I am in Tacoma, Wa and it seems that you just got a visit from "Mad Murphy". Still, I wouldnt be so fast about selling the pistons and rods. Get new bearings, resurface the crank ($75 is the average) and get back on your horse again.

Hit Harbor freight for a low cost set of micrometers, a torque wrench, some plastigate from auto zone, and your low cost standard feeler gauge.

Putting an engine toghether is not rocket science.

I understand that I am a NOOB here (to the Turbo thing), but in my years of experience i have learned no one can do or fock up something better than youself.

One thing I will never allowed is for the machine shop guy to put my engine toughether(altough I have lots of respect for them). They are good at what they do, but I am even better at what I do.

I hope you solve this issue.

Kinda sucks though considering Im not gonna hit my original goal but I guess at the end of the day, 300rwhp is kinda quick. The motor I got actually had everything on it minus the alternator so Ill be selling the head and everything else but the block so If anyone needs anything, pm me.

Sorry to see that. Maybe the future will give you the opportunity to try again. I bet once you get it back up with the stock long block, you'll get some of that motivation back.
