There are multiple grounds in the injector and dash harness, neither of which are connected
I'll see. Free weekend days with my wife are literally numbered for the next ~18 years. 36 to be exact. But then again a jogger costs ~$400. So I'll get back to you.

Well maybe I'll just have to bring it to AR then and finish it there. I do not have the required skills to finish the electrical stuff, nope.

Dash harness tonight was a bust. Is missing stuff. I'm still going to take a closer look, might be enough for what we need. But I need to get to the point where I can put this dash in.

Thanks G, I've already got a full '04 MSM harness in a box, that's kindof the problem, lol.

Gents, could use some good vibes right about now. Wife has moved out ( #longstory ) and my grandmother had a bad fall yesterday and family has begun planning the funeral. Heading to Idaho tomorrow night to see her one more time, and will be gone the whole weekend.

Of course this means absolutely no shot at getting this thing done in time for ORP on the 21, and might even affect its readiness for MRLS. This project has kinda been something that's kept me going and kept my head up over the last couple months, so it's a little heartbreaking to have progress this slow.

I've said it before... If I have to buy a craigslist Miata and take it, I will. But I don't think it'll come to that. I hope.

Oh, thanks. I got an injector harness from DarkCambria, and I ordered a dash harness from Treasure Coast, so I'm all set. Just have to wait for it all to arrive...

Your car us gonna be ready for ORP no problem. Nothing a couple all nighters can't fix. When you get the harnesses in yank and I will come over and get your **** rolling. You buy the beer.

^Truth. Which is why I'm going out to see my grandmother rather than spending the time on the car, even though it might mean it won't be ready for the event. As for the wife... unfortunately that endeavor is likely a lost cause, damage not caused by pressure for this event.
Back on topic... I got the '99 injector harness and it's really, really different. I think I need to build a custom harness. I do not have the required skills to build a custom harness.Paging Aidan to build me a custom harness.

MSM harness: You can see the extra wiring you added in the back. That's a temporary butt connector on the ground that I used while troubleshooting.

'99 harness. Ground is on the other end, and it has two extra connectors on the end that goes to the rear of the head. Also, it doesn't have that little connector that you said is some kind of noise isolator or whatever.

Also, the injector plugs are different. MSM:

'99:

And remember, the MSM has two fat wires at the gray plug (both grounds), where the '99 only has one (wtf).

Considering how much needs to be changed in terms of changing injector plugs and removing other plugs, it seems it'd probably be just as easy, and DEFINITELY much cleaner, to just build a new harness.

Am I wrong?

It has different injector connectors (denso/uscar) and I think some sensors are in different places, CAS front to back etc.
Full custom won't be needed but it will need tweaking I think.
Its too late to do wiring. I'm going to bed.

Oh. those big extra plugs on the back by the coolant temp sensor are for the original coils I suppose. What to do with them now?

I'm feeling optimistic that I at least know what everything is now... maybe I can actually learn to read these electrical diagrams after all...
