Thanks guys.

yeah, the second time he fainted, he was sitting down at the kitchen table. Super weird stuff.

I think I'm going to push for an MRI or CT scan of the head area. Ugh. Hopefully we can get him on disability. Can't exactly drive a truck with sporadic losses of consciousness....

Speaking of chassis braces, did you see this: MX-5 Miata Forum - View Single Post - Puzzled By The Ride Quality (yes I'm sending you to m.net, but its an Emilio comment)

Thanks for posting. Hugely helpful.

I love reading posts where Emilio or Andrew really just sit down and put experience to keyboard. I also love how he sells versions of every stiffening product he listed, but just listed them by product type (roll bars, fender braces, frame rail braces) rather than by brand.

Only if he faints again!
Why? Very small chance it's a brain tumor/met, most likely heart related, heads got nothing to do with that, syncopal episode most likely just a secondary symptom of zero blood to the brain.

He did experience a spat of elevated heart rate, flushing, and light-headedness yesterday evening after we got him home again, so hopefully that gives them the info they need.

Cardiovascular system is like any fluid pump. If you have no volume, the heart will pump faster to try to compensate. Eventually your blood pressure will fall and you'll faint. Water=blood. Keep him hydrated.

Don't know what came over me, but after burning the rubber off these things had become seriously rusty and ugly. Hit them with a sanding wheel and a few coats of paint.

Lubed the bushings up good. Tightened the bolt til the bushings squished a bit, then stopped. I've heard that's how others did it. Used blue loctite (actually harbor freight brand blue loctite, but whatever). Should be good right?

Installed the passenger axle and xida...

These poly bushings have gotten STIFF. Quite difficult to move the control arms, but after a few conversations with others, I expect them to loosen up so I'm not going to worry about it for now.

Couldn't resist... threw the rotor and wheel on, then put the jack under it til it was bearing the weight of that corner. Pic dump:

I'm feeling very happy and motivated here.

Didn't get near as much time to work on it as I'd hoped. Sunday was well-spent at Packwood Autox with Aidan and my buddy Jancarlo (yellowspecvnismo on here, drives a 350z). But Monday only had a few hours because of Dad.

Dad's heart monitor results were pretty crazy -- during the 48 hours he wore the monitor, his heart stopped 3 times, for almost 3 seconds each. He also had some extremely slow heart rate moments, all the way down to 23 bpm... and some crazy high moments, up to 187 bpm, despite no rigorous physical activity during that time. He was in the ER again yesterday waiting to get a pacemaker put in, and it went in today. Thankfully all is fine so far, surgery went well.

Reassembly is going to take me a minute. I just haven't done this enough times, so it's fairly slow going. Got the driver side rear seat humps out, gotta come up with a good solution to mount the seat (and accidentally poked a hole in the floor trying to drill out the spot welds).

Anyway... Yeah.

Hey now.

And I read somewhere that the diff mounts have a torque spec, but that it's difficult to reach it since the bushing squishes. I do plan to get under there and torque everything to spec. I bought a HF torque wrench that's a POS, can't feel the click.

P.S. I did have an expert's help on the seat mount, remember? hehe... that bracket bent horribly in the accident BTW. Oi. I'm doing things right this time around though. All legit stuff, done right. c'mon now.

And hey... The S2k is working fine, and I did all the mechanical side of it myself!
