MT.net members need to get a block of rooms at the same motel.

I don't think any MT.netters (from our group) stayed overnight last year except me and doward. Jeff had to go fix his mixer, G went home and so did the other G, Vlad couldn't handle the truth and went home and took his Russian friend with him. Dan and I stayed with the Ohio Miata Owners group.

We do better this time.

lol
I was so sunburnt and dehydrated I felt like death by 4:30pm.
The lack of proper bathrooms or even a place to wash your hands really really bothered me.
This year I bring sunblock, a hat, lots of water, and hand sanitizer. For realzies

Not sure they'll let you register B without having physically driven the track before. B was REALLY aggressive a couple years ago, but I think they've managed to tone that down and move those guys into A, so we'll see.

I'm not going to have a lot of seat time this year leading up to the event, so I'm going to stick with C. If your car has been modded at all and you have any seat time on any track, stay away from D. It will make you very frustrated. I've taken to calling it "the M.net group"

Yes, that was terrible planning, they really dropped the ball on that. Plus it was only was Friday. Did you even make it to the track? You should register for D this year and get in some seat time, then you can hang out with us cool kids.

Confirmed and paid for Sat C1, Sun C, Friday BBQ and no banquet. Hopefully I don't blow up my car before October

I hope they don't end up shuffling people between C1 and C2 I'm surprised that Saturday B is already full. That took like 15 minutes

Vlad, go sign up for D on Saturday. Srs. You can always wuss out and cancel later.

To be fair, Rick said that the photo on the hill on Friday was "Plan G", after 5 or 6 other plans got shot down, and it was put together at very short notice. I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did.

I made sure to bring a big floppy hat, lawn chairs, and a cooler with my own drinks in it, and it worked out OK.

I signed up for it this morning, running both days in group A again. Already got my hotel reservation for the event hotel.

Having planned events in Monterey County in the past I was stupefied they even allowed them to do it at that location with no facilities, INSIDE a county park. The health department should have been all over that one. I'm stunned that was even an option.

Ian in A, like a boss

Maybe they put it together so quickly that nobody in the health department got a chance to complain?

I'm typically one of the slower drivers in A when the event starts on Saturday and mid-pack by Sunday afternoon.

For any following this, I have listed my FCM coilovers with tophats for sale.

As for progress on the build, Josh has sent my head off to the machine shop. He bench tested it and found some leaking in cyls 2 and 3, and a bit on 1, which exactly matches the compression tests. I understand the shop is going to test as well. Assuming they do find leaking there, I'm going to just put the bottom end back together as-is rather than go through it again. It's a low-mile motor, less than 10k miles, and the bores look good, so I really don't want to pull it down if I don't have to.

I think we should be fine. We're putting a lot of trust in the previous builder, but it's actually been reliable for you, so why not.

I warned the machinist of +1 intake valves, and the possibility of super tech valve springs, but I don't think they are super tech springs, unless they make a single spring version.

My biggest worry is all the talk of destroyed valve seats lately.

Wait they're +1 valves? I didn't know that, I thought they were stock.

Yes I am also worried about destroyed valve seats.

I think so, they looked bigger. +1mm is pretty hard to eyeball, but I thought they were bigger.
