Ed. Just read your comments in the Fab9 EFR flange thread.
ED
Survive a full season on track with what you got before upgrading, prease
Here's a video I found online of Ed discovering shiny new turbo upgrades!
Edit.
SERIOUSLY. What you have is what more than 99% of boosted miata track bros have. Unless your secret goal is street racing cred ... in which case you are still sitting pretty. Master it then upgrade it.
Edit2: because miataturbo : in case it is not clear (I know, to some of you who will read this, the allegory will not be apparent, because you are broke-*** college students boosting your daily in the frozen parking lot of your failed higher ed dreams), North American Red Squirrel = Trubofan. Boomerang = Shiny Turbo Upgrades.

Honestly after being at work for 65 hours this week I just want to crawl under a rock. But tomorrow I get to meet the S2k. Woo.
In Miata news, I have received the headlights and steering wheel I bought , and I'll be dropping off head gasket and other seals to Josh tomorrow. Haven't heard news about the head, hopefully no news is good news.

Big Ol' NOPE!
I just want these cars running. I really didn't want another project, I genuinely didn't think I'd win this s2k but hey, here I am. If I don't want a project I shouldn't bid. They'll be bringing it out now. I'll post pics. Fingers crossed.

So right now you are picking up another car instead of stripping yours for the body shop? Come on man, you could have this done in a weekend without all the sidetracking. Someone take away all of Ed's other cars and make the 10AE be his daily. You work reallllly fast when your other option is a bike

My car is already stripped for the body shop. All I need is to get the hardtop back from Josh and pick up the rear bumper from him, then get it towed to the body shop. But today is the deadline for picking up the S2k. Plus it's worth the effort.
The projects will get done eventually. I think I'm going to end up adjusting my goal for miata completion though, unless I suddenly get more free time.

Ed asked for some pictures of the VVT head for his build thread:
I'll do him one better though. Head surface:
Head gasket:
And bam, head:
I had to bust open one of the two BNIB ARP head stud kits CSTG currently has in stock, cause I could not find the washers or nuts for the head studs he gave me. ED! Find them and replace my stock please.
Also, we talked and I think I convinced him that wrinkle black disappears in anything but bright bright white engine bays, and to pay tribute to the MSM, I'm hoping he powdercoats the ugly valve cover wrinkle red.

Ed, do wrinkle red. But brighter. I always felt like the msm wrinkle red was too dark
Also can I have/buy old head? I want an extra to use as a heat sink when I build my next manifold.

That'd probably be a great use of it. I'd want it stripped down to nothing but the head, cam caps, and their bolts. springs, cams, retainers, and valves are all most likely salvageable.
I was considering having it rebuilt for my own eventual 1.8 build, IF (and that's a big "if"), it doesn't have to be heat treated to flatten. The head guy has 20+ years experience with Miata engines, and it sounded like he could trim some material off the bottom of the cam caps, line bore them back to nominal, and then surface the head gasket surface and it'd be good to go. If we didn't have this VVT head available, and/or if Ed didn't have a VVT capable MS2e, we probably would of taken the risk in rebuilding the MSM head.
To be clear, the cams did turn when the caps were torqued down, so it can't be that bad. But they did have some stiff spots in their rotation.
