FS: 1992 Miata with Built motor and other goodies!
My new job requires I have something much more reliable than this car. Not to say it won't be reliable, but with a daily 40mile (each way) commute I cannot afford to take any chances. The car/motor is not built with daily driving in mind, and is more suited for a monster road car or race vehicle.
The car is a 1992 Miata w/ 19X,XXX miles on the body. It has been repainted Ford Mineral Grey, but the paint job was honestly not done very well. From a distance it looks great, but up close it has many flaws. One door jam wasn't even painted. The engine bay was sprayed black but they didn’t even scuff it first so much of that has peeled and the stock Mariner Blue color is visible. I hit a curb once and there is a dent on the bottom, middle of the car that would need to be pulled out with a rod welder and a slide hammer. An there are various minor dings on the car. So it has seen better days, but as a project/race car its fine.
The car has:
-1.8 brakes front and rear
-1.8 Diff with RX7 clutch lsd with half shafts and drive shaft (not installed)
-Brand new master and slave clutch cylinders
-1yr old Duetto motors soft top with their rubber rain rail
-Depowered power steering rack
-MS ecu in standalone
The motor has the following:
-Wiseco 8.5:1 comp pistons that have been fully coated
-CAT rods
-ACL bearings
-Head has been fully worked by me
-Combustion chambers and exhaust ports ceramic coated
-The machine shop did a 5 angle valve job
-Full Supertech valve train with stock sized valves. Highest seat pressure springs.
-Full shim under bucket conversion
-Custom cams from Integral Cams. 263dur total, 9.4mm lift, 232dur @ .05" (I think)
-Fully balanced rotating assembly
-Fidanza cam gears
-Billet oil pump gears
-Mazda gasket kit
-Cometic head gasket
-ARP head bolts
-BRGRacer coolant reroute
-MMR motor mounts (the car DOES currently shake like crazy and everything rattles)
-Brand new Clutchnet 3x PP with 6 puck disc (pedal pressure isnt bad, but it engages near the floor)
-$1200 in machine work
Get FM to make you a quote for that motor and come back and look at this post.....
The motor has an effective compression ratio around 8:1 after the head work. High boost on pump gas was what I had in mind when building this. I had planned on running it at 20psi+. I will be honest in telling you that it is a bit of a dog below 4.5k in the upper gears. NA performance was not what it was built for though. It has an awesome WHOOSH that I've heard no other miata make NA at WOT, because it flows much more... I've only taken the motor to 7k RPM where it is just absolutely SOOO smooth, but it was built for a 9k rpm redline. I have driven the motor on the road now for 100 miles. I've had plans to sell this thing for a while now, but wanted to get it running first before putting it up for sale in hopes that it would bring more potential buyers. The motor WILL need to be fully tuned by the buyer. It drives fine right now, but to be most reliable at high rpms it needs the spark tuned.
There are some other things on the car I'm sure I'm missing here but I've covered the biggest ones. I was building for power before looks, and if you buy that’s what you will be getting.
I would consider parting the car if the motor was purchased FIRST! Until that happens though I don't want this thread filling with dibbs. As far as I'm concerned there are no dibbs, whoever pays me first, gets first.
I'm looking to sell the car for $5000 with everything. That means you are basically paying what I paid for the motor and getting everything else for free. I challenge you to find a better deal for what I'm selling.
If it came to parting the car I would be asking the following prices:
Built motor - $3500 or other SERIOUS offers (Do not contact me about this unless you have money in your bank account to buy it)
92 miata shell w/out shocks and springs - $800
1.8 diff with RX7 clutch LSD, half shafts, driver shaft - $800
KYB AGX w/ FM old springs ~20k miles mostly highway - $300
MS ecu with standalone harness - $350
I am charging my camera battery and will be taking pics afterword.

How about a Mk2 GTI 16v for that motor, clutch setup, and maybe some trading on the MS setup as I'm not sure if I'd need the one you building parallel?
Hell, I can even throw in another 1.6 running motor so you don't have to completely part the car out (with some oil burning issues) for some stuff, bring that **** up, help swap it out, and bring the other motor home.

I'm gonna take them tomorrow when the sun is out.
matt: After driving the car last night and during the day I realized that there is no way I would be able to handle this thing in bumper to bumper traffic.
