Default "Big Gulp" looks to be for sale.

eBay Motors: Mazda : MX-5 Miata (item 280299880798 end time Jan-15-09 11:31:25 PST)

World's FIRST cold side MP62 Miata...aka BIG GULP is for sale. Detuned to 270 rwhp (without NOS) . Forged balanced and blueprinted engine, Wiseco pistons (8.7:1 cr), Pauter rods, headwork including OS valves, Centerforce clutch , Completely custom supercharger setup, including A/W IC, 3 heat exchangers and 3 gallon holding tank, Alky/meth injection, 100 shot NOS.Oil cooler w/ dual remote filters, custom fuel rail, braided Aeroquip hoses and fittings. Haltech E6X stand alone computer, extra ecu, RC 550 injectors, MSD DIS 2 HO ignition and coils, custom gauges, including dual channel vacuum/boost, dual channel intake air temp, complete factory service manual and much more.
Car is in excellent running condition, some exterior paint chipping and 2 repaired tears in the soft top. Racing beat front and rear sway bars, Eibach springs, KYB shocks (adjustable), manual steering rack, Emilio 6 UL wheels, with 205/15 Azenis. Original pictures are at www.biggulp.net Contact 954-680-2009 for more info
This IS the one and only Big Gulp superchardged Miata. It includes a custom billet milled intake manifold and all billet custom bracketry, etc. The only car like this in the world and the FIRST cold disde MP62. This car has been running with NO problems since 2004. Originally at 340 rwhp, it was alost too much car to drive, i.e. extremely quick. Detuned several years later to the current power level of 270 rwhp, but NOS was upped from 75 to 100+ shot. Water / alky setup was changed to a Devil's own system using meth, post intercooler. Motor also has a custom coolant re-route setup. Brake pads are Hawk Hi perf.
I have receieved a few questions about the car, and thought it best to answer here as well....the original engine had a problem at around 17k miles, so the current bueprinted engine has around 23k on it. The car drives fine in bumper to bumper traffic, it is not a race only setup. The rear differential is a torsen (similar to posi-trac or limited slip) with 4.3 gearing. With the 5 speed transmission, top speed is around 150 mph. Engine redline is 7800 rpm's. Exhaust is a modified 2001 header with 2 1/2" exhaust. Currrently running a resonator, turbo style muffler and crankcase evac setup, 75mm Mustang throttle body with Biggulp VRTL and cowl induction intake. The exhaust is not that loud, but some power was lost from the original numbers as per www.biggulp.net. Some due to the exhaust and some from lowering boost. Original boost was 21 psi, current is around 13 psi.
Any and all questions are welcome
Thanks
RJW

Couldn't he figure out a better place for the coils instead of right above the header?

Ick to excess heat.

That looks like WAAAAYYYYY to much work. But, still extremely impressive amount of engineering and design.

If anyone is seriously intrested or know's someone who is intrested, this car is pretty local to me. I wouldn't mine have an excuse to go see it.

All I can say is "wow"! For a car that's on e-bay, I am impressed. Looks to be a legit rocketship that's not slapped together and craigslist worthy, and a coldside MP62? Way to go! I say nicely done, except for the coils over the manifold. Is that a stock mani? You'd think a car that's supercharged with this much boost would have a header...oh well, I still like it.

I had a chance to ride in that car and was very impressed. I'm sorry to see him sell it.

I wouldn't worry too much about having the coil packs over the header. GM didn't seem to see a problem with it in their LSX cars. I haven't heard that GM coil failures are common. Building a cheap reflective shield under the CPs should be trivial.
