A Deputy in the Riverside County (California) Sheriff’s Office was responding to a call Tuesday in Lake Elsinore. It had been reported that a suspicious person had been looking into windows that morning. While investigating the very residence which the call came from, the skillful deputy encountered a rottweiler. As of yet, the officer remains unnamed. With good reason, who wants their career ruined by letting the masses whom they are to protect know that instead of murdering a dog, he shoots himself. According to Deputy Mike Vasquez, speaking on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office, this is what happened between the dog and the as-yet unnamed officer:
“The dog charged at the deputy,” Vasquez wrote,”and in an effort to protect himself, he fell backwards while drawing his duty weapon and unintentionally shot himself in the leg.”
Fortunately, the dog was uninjured, and Vasquez’s self-inflicted wound was not life-threatening. He was given first aid at the scene and then transported to the hospital for further treatment.
I guess that either the dog was scared away by the sound of the gunshot, or it never intended any harm to the deputy, as it did not attack the officer after he blasted himself in the leg.

On the other hand, it is extremely rare that an adult human dies from a dog attack. Despite there being so few reports of serious injury or deaths to people or police officers, police still get a rock hard MUH LIFE! boner when encountering the animals. While dogs can engage our primal fears, most of us are able to control them well enough to avoid having to kill them on a regular basis. But police are being conditioned to constantly fear for their lives so much that behind every corner or every moving, living thing, they see a threat to their existence. This engineered paranoia makes police radically and unnecessarily dangerous not just to his fellow man, but to man’s best friend, the dog.

However, the 30-year-old was never charged. His arrest was kicked off after the local mayor, Jim Ardis, was concerned that the tweets in that account falsely portrayed him as a drug abuser who associates with prostitutes. One tweet Ardis was concerned about said, "Who stole my crackpipe?"
As part of the agreement, (PDF) which includes legal fees, his attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union said Peoria will publish a "directive" to the police department making it clear that Illinois law criminalizing impersonation of a public official does not include parody and satire.

Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said Tuesday that Brian Tucker, who was not on duty at the time, picked up the victim on Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights on July 6. After a brief exchange, they agreed to have sex, and Tucker drove the victim into an industrial area in his personal vehicle, where they engaged in consensual sex.
During the act, Tucker told the victim that he wanted ---- intercourse, and she refused. Tucker then put his service weapon to her head and forced ---- intercourse.
During the encounter, a Prince George's County Police Officer on regular patrol in the area came upon Tucker and the victim. The victim immediately told the officer that Tucker had a gun and had forced ---- intercourse at gunpoint. Tucker, who identified himself as a Maryland State Trooper, was taken into custody and later charged.
Tucker was also charged with a second-degree sex offense, first- and second-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence.

The shooting in the city of 48,000 people, only about 2 percent of whom are black, triggered street demonstrations.
It followed a series of fatal incidents across the nation that have put law enforcement agencies under scrutiny over their use of force, particularly against young black men and other minorities.
Relating Donald's account of the incident, Roberts said the policeman, who is white, and other officers responded to a call from a supermarket where employees reported two men trying to steal beer had thrown a case at a clerk and then run.
During the subsequent confrontation with police, Donald shot Andre Thompson and Bryson Chaplin, two brothers aged 24 and 21. Thompson was shot in the abdomen and Chaplin in the chest, neck, back, and arm. Chaplin is paralyzed from the waist down, local media reported.
Thompson told investigators he did not use a skateboard to defend himself and could not remember whether his brother did so.

People are always assumed innocent--the state has to prove their guilt before death by firing squad, which needs to be first confirmed by a jury.
The bill of rights is extended to all citizens (and illegals when it comes to free money), including ones who may or may not have committed a crime. This includes protections against the state from censorship, robbery, murder, and railroading a conviction.
There's a limited number of rights that one loses AFTER a conviction, but never before.
Just because you're a bigot, doesn't mean others shouldn't also be able to enjoy the same freedoms as you. I've posted myriad of examples of 100% completely innocent people being raped by the state (often by illegal tactics--very irony. wowe.) by a thuggish loon that gets paid and protected to make life for everyday freedom-loving people a living hell--both fincially and socially.
If I could do it all over again, I'd actually try in school to become a criminal defense attorney.

Moore is a former Chapel-Hill police officer who resigned after being accused of posing as a FBI agent in 2003.
The SBI said it also charged Graham Fire Department volunteer Nathen Vance Newlin, 30, of Graham with one count of patronizing a prostitute who is a minor.
In February the city of Graham named Nathen Newlin the 2014 fireman of the year.
Officers are searching for Jin Qin Chen, 38, of Burlington who is wanted for one count of statutory rape or sexual offense of a minor and two counts of patronizing a prostitute who is a minor.
The charges for all three men stem from incidents that happened in June and July.
Burlington Police Department requested help from ICE Homeland Security and the SBI after initially launching an investigation into the crimes.

Both officers have been with the Norfolk Police Department for seven years. Brann was president of the Norfolk Police Union.

And I'm not being sarcastic or melodramatic- you seem to be overlooking the fundamental legal concept of justifiable homicide (as well as Jus ad bellum), and the philosophical concepts of the principle of double effect, consequentialism, the trolley problem, etc.
I don't think you'd have liked it, or done well in law school. One of the most fundamental ideas which they pound into you from day 1 is that there are no absolutes.

On Wednesday, a part-time officer in Millis, Mass. said that a man in a pickup truck had shot at his cruiser. They exchanged fire. The cruiser crashed and caught on fire. Police from several towns, a Massachusetts State Police helicopter and K9 units were all part of the massive hunt for the suspect.
But it turns out there is no suspect, Millis Police said Thursday. The part-time officer allegedly made the whole story up.
After several interviews with the part-time officer, “and as a result of all other evidence, we have determined that the officer’s story was fabricated, specifically that he fired shots at his own cruiser as part of a plan to concoct a story that he was fired upon,” reads a Millis Police Department statement. “The evidence indicates that the shots were not fired by a suspect and there is no gunman at-large in or around the town.”
The department isn’t releasing the officer’s name and said it wouldn’t comment on possible motives or his performance record, pending formal charges. But they did announce he will be fired and that they would work with prosecutors and state police to “determine what criminal charges the officer will face.”
When the incident first became public, authorities said they were looking for a man between 25 and 40 years of age in a dark-colored pickup truck who fired two or three shots at the officer who returned fire. State police had said that the cruiser crashed into a tree and caught fire, and the officer inside wasn’t seriously hurt.
After the incident, residents in the suburban Boston town were told to stay inside as SWAT officers searched for a suspect, the Associated Press reported.
Investigators searched for ballistics evidence around the scene, but the only such evidence they found belonged to the part-time officer, according to police. And investigators aren’t sure if he set the cruiser on fire, AP reported.
State Police referred questions to the Millis Police Department. A spokesman for the local department wasn’t available for comment.
The part-time officer used to be a dispatcher at the Millis department and was hired as a “permanent intermittent officer” in June. “He was scheduled to begin training to become a full-time officer soon,” the Millis Police statement read.
Other officers on the force are “dedicated public servants and committed to the highest levels of integrity,” the statement read. It continued:
“The alleged actions of this officer should NOT reflect on the remainder of the Millis Police Department… To their credit, they undertook the difficult task of investigating one of their own and did so without bias.”

On Wednesday, a part-time officer in Millis, Mass. said that a man in a pickup truck had shot at his cruiser. They exchanged fire. The cruiser crashed and caught on fire. Police from several towns, a Massachusetts State Police helicopter and K9 units were all part of the massive hunt for the suspect.
But it turns out there is no suspect, Millis Police said Thursday. The part-time officer allegedly made the whole story up.
After several interviews with the part-time officer, “and as a result of all other evidence, we have determined that the officer’s story was fabricated, specifically that he fired shots at his own cruiser as part of a plan to concoct a story that he was fired upon,” reads a Millis Police Department statement. “The evidence indicates that the shots were not fired by a suspect and there is no gunman at-large in or around the town.”
The department isn’t releasing the officer’s name and said it wouldn’t comment on possible motives or his performance record, pending formal charges. But they did announce he will be fired and that they would work with prosecutors and state police to “determine what criminal charges the officer will face.”
When the incident first became public, authorities said they were looking for a man between 25 and 40 years of age in a dark-colored pickup truck who fired two or three shots at the officer who returned fire. State police had said that the cruiser crashed into a tree and caught fire, and the officer inside wasn’t seriously hurt.
After the incident, residents in the suburban Boston town were told to stay inside as SWAT officers searched for a suspect, the Associated Press reported.
Investigators searched for ballistics evidence around the scene, but the only such evidence they found belonged to the part-time officer, according to police. And investigators aren’t sure if he set the cruiser on fire, AP reported.
State Police referred questions to the Millis Police Department. A spokesman for the local department wasn’t available for comment.
The part-time officer used to be a dispatcher at the Millis department and was hired as a “permanent intermittent officer” in June. “He was scheduled to begin training to become a full-time officer soon,” the Millis Police statement read.
Other officers on the force are “dedicated public servants and committed to the highest levels of integrity,” the statement read. It continued:
“The alleged actions of this officer should NOT reflect on the remainder of the Millis Police Department… To their credit, they undertook the difficult task of investigating one of their own and did so without bias.”

The charges also forced the quarterback off the football team, the paper reported.
Psychologist Jeff Temple of the University of Texas Medical Branch said his research has found that 28 percent of teens use their cellphones to send naked photos of themselves to other teens. So does a 2014 study published by researchers at Drexel University in Pennsylvania.
Sexting a photo is considered illegal in North Carolina, but the age of consent for sexual activity is 16.

yesterday my neighbor's dog got out of their fenced yard when i came home from work. I parked my car, called the dog over, and put it back into the yard and let the homeowner know.

The border collie and boxer mix would chase his ball until he fell over if his owner, Rania Hagemeier, would have let him.
Hagemeier buried Todd with that ball, so he can chase it in heaven.
Todd died Wednesday. A Wilber police officer stood in the family’s yard and shot the dog in the head and chest as Rania Hagemeier’s 13-year-old daughter, Bree, screamed for the officer not to shoot, according to the family’s attorney, Dustin Garrison of Beatrice.
Wilber Police Chief Stephen Sunday, Mayor Roger Chrans and City Attorney Tad Eickman declined to comment on the case. Eickman said reports of the incident have been reviewed and turned over to the city’s insurance company.
In the meantime, city officials have declined to answer any questions, including whether the officer involved in the shooting has been disciplined or is still employed by the city.
When Sunday was asked about the Wilber Police Department’s policy on use of deadly force and discharging a firearm within the city, he declined to answer and hung up the phone.
In Facebook posts, Todd’s family described him as gentle and fun-loving. He lived with four Chihuahuas and a cat and liked to play with the neighbors’ children.
“Todd didn’t have a mean bone in his body,” Garrison said. “This is simply the result of an overzealous police officer that wanted to use his gun and used it on a dog for no apparent reason.”
The family has called for the officer to be fired and is considering a lawsuit or other action.
Some of the details surrounding the shooting remain hazy.
What the family knows is the door on the back porch didn’t get properly latched Wednesday morning, and Todd got out. Their yard has no fence.
A Wilber police officer responded to a report of a dog at large, but it's unknown whether Todd was the dog reported.
“We think he went to the location looking for another dog and just happened to stumble across Todd,” Garrison said.
While trying to catch Todd, the officer cornered the dog in the Hagemeier’s yard.
Bree Hagemeier opened the door of the house to see the officer pointing a gun and screamed for him to stop.
The officer shot Todd in the head. The dog then reared up and the officer shot him in the chest. Todd fell to the ground on his right side, Garrison said.
Bill Muldoon, director of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center, declined to comment on this specific case, but said officers are trained to use deadly force to defend themselves or others from death or serious bodily injury, and that includes an animal attack.
Garrison argued the officer needlessly endangered people by firing a gun in a residential neighborhood.
“In shooting this dog, he put lots of people’s lives in danger,” Garrison said. “That bullet could have ricocheted anywhere in the neighborhood.”
Bree Hagemeier was 74 feet away when the officer fired the first shot and 63 feet away from the second shot, Garrison said.
The Hagemeier family had Todd’s body examined. The first bullet lodged in his head. The second passed through his body and has not been found.

Lawyers are currently deciding on whether or not he should keep his job, but the cases have been going on for years, and Turpin even admitted guilt.
