I think we are all missing the part where I called my buddies. Either way I've been in a situation where I have had to engage multiple people... with a rifle, sure it's a little different, but evading bullets is a lot harder than people. I would at least ruin a few of them. But **** it I know I'd probably go down.

I mean…if a guy starts pulling you out of the car…can you shoot him? I think you could defend bashing him in the head with a flashlight with no questions. Or perhaps the idea is that if someone starts to yank you out of your car you pull out the gun and then they let go and run away towards easier prey.
I read about this pharmacist that is getting sent to jail for life after killing a robber or robbers who had shot at him in his store. A big issue was that he kept shooting after one went down? Excessive force so therefore HE is a murderer. Only he was being robbed by them and was in fear for his life.

Remember that the ultra-PC media votes democratic 93%.
Stories get filtered or not reported on or rephrased. A group of "teens" usually means a bit more than that.
There have been tons of flash mob situations recently. Mostly robberies but there has also been a lot of actual violence against other races.
Years ago there was a "wilding" event in Central Park in NYC. One of my cousins was the Doctor for that girl. And her sister (the doc not the victim) was Christopher Reeve's MD…who was afraid of her lol. Superman was afraid of a 100 pound girl!

I got stuck in one recently, a restaurant owner grabbed me and my girlfriend and locked the doors because a week before that, a middle aged lady got her jaw broken by one of these upstanding citizens. I nearly **** my pants. It was like The Birds, except instead of birds, they were teenagers larger than most college athletes; packing pure retard strength.
I'm not lawyer, though.

Also, what amount of time elapsed between when the guy went down and when the victim continued to shoot? Was the downed assailant still in the pharmacy or did the victim pursue? Etc.

Where was this at? Can you find the specific story? I ask because you may be remembering details wrong or the story may have been reported in what can be a misleading manner. That is, being charged and being prosecuted and being found guilty are all different things.

In texas at least, you have the right to defend your car/house/etc with deadly force if you feel that your life is in danger. If someone is coming at you and trying to pull you out of your car, you don't know if they have a gun, so you can use deadly force. Obviously if you shoot them, and they start to stumble and walk away... shooting them in the back is excessive force, you need to get away and call police.

Situation example. I have a large garden, and I have a lot of Mexicans who live up the street from me who pass my house walking daily to the soccer field at the park next to my house. If I were to come home and find them in my garden (which I have in the past), I may feel the need to blast at them from long range. Wouldn't hurt them, but would surely scare them away and make them think twice about doing it again. That or they would do a drive by on my house There is quite a lot of crime at the apartment complex that they live in.
