I'm not sure the fact that it is subsidized by tax dollars is enough of a criticism. Now, if it's a shitty project with inflated costs due to corruption, that's a fair criticism.
Highways are supposed to be taken care of the gasoline tax, a "use" tax if you will. The gov't unfortunately hasn't raised the gasoline tax in 2 decades, or made it a % vs a fixed rate.

The fares collected for all but one line in Japan and one line in France, are subsidized with other tax payer dollars.

Duke Raises Student Fees to Pay for Sex Change Surgery

Quote:
Administrators say they will cover the cost of the reassignment surgery up to $50,000 that will be covered with a cause a 0.3 percent increase to overall student fees.LGBT advocates on campus immediately celebrated the university’s decision.

“The addition of sexual reassignment surgery with a $50,000 cap makes Duke’s student health care plan one of the most, if not the most, transgender-inclusive plans in the country,” Sunny Frothingham, the outreach chair for Blue Devils United told the Duke Chronicle last week…

LiveLeak.com - My friends daughter being slammed and illegally arrested by Alaska State Trooper

Small woman tries to open door for cop leaving her house, cop somehow determines it to be threatening, turns, slams her to the ground and arrests her for "disorderly conduct".

Unemployment, here comes one of Alaska's finest.

Did you watch the entire thing? This wasn't just abuse of power, they were torturing him and nearly beating him to death both on the ground, in the back of the cop car and at the hospital. I've been on the internet for a long time. Seen some ****. But, this was the first time I ever really felt bad for someone. Hearing him crying in the back of the cop car being beaten was almost too much for me this morning.

Then the charges of "aggravated assault" against him because the cop broke his hand beating him in the face when he was restrained in a hospital bed. The list goes on. That video is unreal.

He should have poured out some of that ice tea on the pavement and told that ****** to lick it up if he wanted to know what it was so bad.

huh... makes me hate police that much more... i know there are bad cops everywhere.... they are usually just bullies that wanted to bully people legally, so they became cops. not in ALL cases... but in a lot of cases...

and that was here in PA... thats insane.... really reassuring...

Was referring to the videos.

Cops are above the law, and can do whatever they want. They can stop your car, pull you out, and beat you to death. All of a sudden, their dash cam decides to break, and you end up with a gun next to your body, with your fingerprints on it.

yup.. **** happens to me all the time... its jacked up... lol

they really do think they are above the law... and they kindof are... i mean, they ARE the law... and who is the judge gonna believe, you? or the cop?

small and irrelevant example... driving to work today on HWY 51... speed limit was 50 where i was... cop seriously passed me up going AT LEAST 80. no lights, no sirens..... maybe the donut show was running out of the jellys or something...

U.S. President Barack Obama gives the commencement address to the graduating class of The Ohio State University at Ohio Stadium on May 5, 2013 in Columbus, Ohio.

Quote:
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Unfortunately, you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that's at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They'll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can't be trusted.

We have never been a people who place all our faith in government to solve our problems. We shouldn't want to. But we don't think the government is the source of all our problems, either. Because we understand that this democracy is ours. And as citizens, we understand that it's not about what America can do for us, it's about what can be done by us, together, through the hard and frustrating but absolutely necessary work of self-government. And class of 2013, you have to be involved in that process.

Indeed. For all the videos out there of retarded cops abusing their power and getting caught by their own cameras, think of how many testimonies that are out there that don't mean **** to a judge due to a dash-cam recording happening to vanish.
