You know, if they gave the cars registrations and let them be titled...it is a bit out of their bounds to go "ooops, sorry, we are now taking your car because some agency 5 years ago dropped the ball"

Couldn't it be as simple as pulling the plate off of it? I know they're legal for off road use.

I would hide mine too. Just out of principal. That is some commie ****. I understand the, seizing them when they come in. But if they are tagged legally and deemed safe by our people, the here legally.

That's the main thing that gets me. It's one thing for the government to suddenly decide they are not legal for street use. It's a whole different thing for the government to suddenly decide that they can come to your house and seize anything that isn't street legal. They're gonna be stealing little kid's go-carts next.

The problem must be that they are considered a contraband = a product illegally importad into the country and therefore not even legal to obtain. Still, there must be better (many many better) ways to spend your tax dollars.

Law enforcement agencies love this ****. They pick a random, obscure law, then enforce it. These guys literally have nothing better to do with their time considering an obscene amount were hired under the Republican White House, and now Hussein decided not to enforce anything with ICE because it might cost him votes from brown people, so these guys have nothing better to do with their time than harass you and I.

You, I, and every car enthusiest in this country should be afraid of a nationwide push from environmental authoritarians who push for bill that emissions test old cars (like our Miatas) against modern standards of electric toasters on wheels. I suspect that one day the EPA/NHTSA will come looking for our cars too.

I see a ban on aftermarket parts more likely, instantly cops have a reason to search your car and invade your privacy just because your muffler looks funny.

They already pull that in maryland, had my 323 searched a few times for "tampering with emissions equipment"

Actually, just about every year California puts a state bill to a vote to change emissions testing on old vehicles and or scratching registration on old cars with a mileage stipulation.

I wonder what costs the American tax payer more money and more security, Japanese Skylines or illegal aliens using social services?

If they put this much time, money and effort into finding and deporting illegal aliens, I would be happy.

This. Overstepping authority. Wait till the gov't decides that we are no longer entitled to private property and does this to all our possessions...

I'm sure if you were to tell people "by the way, Homeland Security is hunting down and impounding cars", they would be in denial and probably tell you that the DHS is meant to fight terrorists. Yup....Skylines are terrorists in disguise....that's the obvious thing we're missing here.
