Default intercooler protection

Who uses some sort of mesh or screen in front of their intercooler (mounted in the mouth area)?

Most photos I’ve seen show exposed intercoolers, and I assume it’s to encourage maximum air-flow. Yes?

Do screens in this location really reduce air-flow enough to have much negative affect on cooling?

Also, I’m curious what some of you guys in the especially buggy parts of the country do about bug guts in the fins…

Simple Green and a garden hose with a sprayer on it works great.

In order to effictively block bugs from getting into your fins you would have to use a pretty dense mesh, at high speeds those are known to block way too much airflow.
