Default Looking for Megasquirt installation help - Midwest?

After about 6 months away from this I am trying again at Megasquirting my car.

I mainly was having problems getting a tach signal, which I still haven't gotten on a parallel install. I am looking for a miata megasquirt expert in the midwest who I can PAY to get me idling and maybe even work on a base spark map.

I don't have much money, but I have less time. It is looking like it will be a better use of my time/money to just have an expert look at it.

Any recommendations? I live in the burbs of Chicago and I am willing to drive up to 6 hours. (360 miles or so)

I just want the darn thing idling. I am sure I can do the rest myself.

<EDIT: can someone please move this thread to ECU area?>

I am actually in the Chicago area doing wireless testing, but I see you have a 2001 with I am not familiar with. Given I am working some long days as well limits my assistant anyway. Supposed to be wrapped up by Friday, but looks like I am coming back next week. Let me know if you don't find any help and maybe I can give you some help.

oops I am down in Hammond area. I could help only if I have another weekend stay.

is this a MSII you built yourself? We can probably just walk you through it.

care to take pics of your board?

ever tried a composite log to see if youre getting any of the signals and if so, if they look correct?

- Will do when I get off of work

- numerous threads about this last year.

https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquirt-18/unable-get-tach-sync-ms3-jimstim-61315/ (has composite log)

Justaturbo --> I appreciate the offer. I don't believe hammond is too far. We will see how it goes this week. Technically I don't even have the car right now. It is at a friend's house wintering over. He is fixing the prior owners butchered stereo install while he has it. I hope to have it back by the end of the week.

Looking back, I never took a composite log while it was on the car. I don't believe I had anything worth looking at. I borrowed an oscilloscope but haven't hooked it up yet. I was hoping to check my harness to make sure I had the right signals coming in on the right wires.

yeah, distance is no problem rental and gas paid. Time as always. Brain's request for pics is the way to go. And he is far more fluent than I am. I just don't keep up with it. But if I can help I certainly will. Chasing signals can be easier with extra eyes and hands for sure.
I will be going home this weekend. Won't know future travel plans until this Friday. All based on our testing results.

that log was taken on the stim. I was verifying that the device itself worked before moving on to the car. I thought I had logged some on the car but I was mistaken.

I will try and get the car tomorrow and plug it up.

I may put this thread on ice. I wasn't planning on working on it so soon. I mainly was looking for a local expert so I can set up an appointment. That said, figuring it out sooner rather than later will get me off my butt to do the rest.

Update!: I think I found the issue. Bad sensor ground.

I will post more info when I get the harness and MS3x in the car. Buying MAP sensor hose and t-fitting tonight. (plus diodes to build flyback for VVT and idle(?))

If car was in heated garage instead of on concrete pad behind house I would be doing it now...
