custom mid mount intercooler?

The question is where DO you want to run it? Unless you're looking for a rear mount the current miata engine configuration is probably the best available configuration you could ever want. You have an the turbo on one end, the intake on the other end, and then the intercooler to connect them together.
Even better for a v mount but thats a little harder to do.

Okay well i'm guessing the over the rad setup you saw was shitty. Over the rad is the 2nd shortest possible after the V mount.
I have an over the rad setup and will do it again if i had to.
This is the total piping from the turbo to the TB. The 2nd bend on the right hose is not needed. This was an intercooler for the supercharger m45.

Yes. I've been running it for about 2 years now, I checked it about 2 weeks ago when i replaced the o rings on my BOV. Everything is still dandy.
Its the "track dog" intercooler setup. I got a good deal on it but if i had to do it again i'd easily be able to make it with an ebay piping and an intercooler.

Stock miatas have cooling issues and this guy is running a SMALLER than stock (see the post where he says he lost 3 cups of coolant). Also the new radiator is less efficient than the stock one since its much thicker but less overall size. So to sum it up its worse than stock and stock miatas already run hot.
