Tapping/Cleaning Coolant Port Threads
So the guy I bough my turbo from had two 1/4" tapered thread NPT barbed fittings installed on the MSM turbo in a M-12-1.25 hole. I have M12-1.25 to -4 adapters, well they wont fit because he managed to mangle the first few threads when he forced the tapered thread NPT fitting in there.
Long story short. I want to tap or chase the threads to clean them back up and make them usable. My concern is getting any crap stuck in the turbo. Does the coolant come in contact with any rotating or sealing parts in a turbo? Or is it just like any other coolant passage?
If it is just a coolant passage I would feel much better about messing around with metal shavings and stuff. If it was on the oil feed or drain I woudldn't know what to do.

Thanks. That is what I was hoping for. Interesting article too. With it being just a water jacket I won’t have to worry blowing debris out with compressed air or a solvent.
Now I just have to come up with a fix for the one manifold to turbo stud hole that was enlarged to 7/16 stud for some reason.
