Grassroots Motorsports challenge car

I was just suggesting it would save him the out of pocket expense, it would still count towards the "cost" of the car for comp.

The new clutch is sitting on the pass. seat awaiting installation.
I'm pretty sure they can give you stuff, but you have to claim it on your expenses at fair market value. So if you happen to already have a car lying around the yard you can't just say "I got it for a dollar from a friend". You have to claim it at fair value of $500 or whatever.

Here's a link to our build-up:
http://tampabaymiatas.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=30
Nothing much secret about our plans:
1) Lighten the car as much as possible
2) Add turbo (plus all the crap associated with such endeavors - I/C, piping, BOV, etc.)
3) Test & tune
4) Answer the eternal question of suspension. Go with a used performance spring/shock setup? Use the coil-overs I have in the garage? They're cheap, but what are the spring rates (unknown)? If I do find out what the rates are, can I get a suitable shock to match? How much $$$?
5) Answer the eternal question of wheels & tires. Do we keep the stock 'Daisies' (free) or go with lightweight 15" wheels ($$)? 15" wheels should add a greater contact patch. Azenis or used racing tires? In which size? Questions, Questions

My project has been moving along slowly. As of last week the engine is out and on a stand and i'm starting to clean out the engine bay to get it ready for paint. Once I paint the car I have a huge pile of parts ready to go on.

I have a set of cheap-a$$ coilovers in the garage. I am taking them to a shop to get the spring rates dyno'd. After that, I will know what kind of shock I'll need to match up to them.

Is there another link to your build up anywhere? The Tampa forum requires registration. Boooo.
I'm really looking forward to some Miata competition. So far it looks like there will be 3 turbo Miatas there! That's pretty bad-*** if you ask me.

I'm really starting to freak out. This past month I spun a rod bearing in my WRX so some time and money had to go into that. The Miata is still completely apart and is almost ready for paint. I was hoping it would be a simple scuff and paint but I later found out that parts of the car had been repainted 3 times and that the whole right quarter was bondo. Tomorrow I hope to finally get the thing in primer then maybe get it painted the following week. Hell even if I get just the engine bay painted the engine can go back in. I'm not sure if the turbo is going to happen this year. I really just want to show up and have fun. Even if the car is not done I'm bringing something. I already took the time off from work.

Mine is on a stand as well. It has a chewed up keyway and we plan to weld the new key in place. The engine bay is in good shape except for under the brake master cylinder. I need to hit that with rust-stop paint.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this year. There were a few small problems with the Miata that i did not get worked out in time. Also i found out last weekend that my girlfriends aunt was shot and killed in Afghanistan. I'll be attending her Funeral this weekend and spending time with the family. Hopefully with some luck and an extra dollar in the budget you will see me there next year.
