MSPNP vs. band-aides

MSPNP vs. band-aides
So I bought my car w/ the turbo on it, EMB in the trunk w/ boost sensor, not connected, and wideband in the exhaust. The car wouldn't start, but I've since corrected that. I didn't go into this w/ the intentions of becomming a Miata expert, or even a tuning expert. I just thought, oh, a turbo in a little Miata, SWEET! So there, I'm a newb... but I've been reading, I promise!
So... in pricing out an EMB and wideband, you're almost at the expense of a MegaSquirt, add a rising rate FPR and you're there.
My question:
Why do so many people run band-aides vs. going MegaSquirt?
I'm wanting to finish my build, the easiest and cheapest way possible. At this point I think I'm at a crossroads between buying a MS-PNP and starting over, and finishing w/ the EMB and adding Bipes + FMU + o2 clamp ($450 if I bought all new parts)
I could probably sell my EMB and 305's to equal out the expense of buying a MegaSquirt vs. buying the rest of the band-aides I need.
I have no idea if I ever plan on building the bottom end, and I think 10-12psi would be my limit for now. I'm trying to buy a house, and won't have much money/time for playing w/ cars here soon.
What would you do? Why?
Thanks!

I don't plan on getting much over 200whp, and I still LOVE having MS.
It costs as much (less if you build it) than decent band-aids, and you actually know what your motor is doing. Having feedback is great, and being able to do something with that feedback is better.
I run datalogs daily, just because I get a kick out of it.
Can't wait to turbo it, and know that with MS, it's going to take me all of a 1/2 hour to get it daily drive-able.

FMU - $180
BIPES - $200
EMB - $380
o2 clamp - $80
Shipping? $60
Total $900
So if I go MS, all I need is, MS. Not to mention I can then put some real injectors in there.
