Just because the tubes that came with a kit are what came with the kit doesn't mean they're magically better than what other people can do with them. Just like the ebay universal kits, they are intentionally made to be cut and modified for your specific car.
It's fail because just look at it. An extra ten minutes and a little bit more care and the cuts and the fit could have looked much cleaner and straighter. Paint never hurts either. That's the only reason. The poster of that picture said it was just a quick job to temporarily get it done. That makes perfect sense. In fact, its much like the cuts I made. Quick, a bit messy, but got the car on the road.

I never was under the impression that they were better necessarily than any other piping. (though I do like the ease of cleaning and look of polished stainless as most other piping is aluminum) What I do like about them though is that they're solid pieces with a minimum number of hose couplers. Cosmetically they're very nice. This is why keeping/modifying them would be my preference. Thanks for the response

Thanks a pretty cool setup!

I cut my hood to clear my over the rad IC pipe. I didnt cut ALL THE WAY THROUGH the hood.

I also only used 2" tubing because I dont intend to make over 450hp with this setup.

I have never seen such a sophomoric display get such a helpful response, which then gets ignored with self righteous indignation.

My dog threw up so I sewed its mouth shut, how do I get food up its ***?

Wow . . . but at least his is concealed under a finished hood!

I guess what I don't get is why, if the OP had an extra hood laying around, he didn't just sell it, use money to buy the proper pieces, not have a hood that looks like ***, and enjoy all the extra free time not spent retrofitting a temporary hood only to then swap it outright with yet another.

Best part is when he justified his retardation with more retardation and ended the post with "well its not as retarded as it first seems".

Yes it is.

If you aren't going to spend a handful of dollars buying a few parts to do it correctly, you can't really afford to own a turbo Miata. And the solution you chose invites ridicule, so put on your big-boy undies and accept it for what you have done. It looks silly and juvenile. Own your mistakes.

I'd like to maintain a semi clean look. The holes are approximately 4-5 inches by 3 inches and I need about 2 inches of vertical clearance. Any suggestions? I have a second hood I'll modify carefully to suit whatever solution I/we come up with. Who has ideas? lol Thanks in advance

You could call it a fail if I did that and thought it looked cool and was going to keep it that way.

The question was never the money. I simply asked for ideas or solutions beyond the obvious that may not have occurred to me. That was the entire point of this thread. At no point did I ever say I intended to leave it as is. It wasn't a mistake. It was a choice I made that suited my purposes and continues to do so. My only issue is that people choose to ridicule because they either think it wasn't a good idea or cannot understand the choice I made. This is fine. This thread it seems was a useless exorcise for the most part, so I'll make a choice that satisfies my needs and ideas and call it good. Feel free to close the thread as I will no longer be bothering with it. Thanks for your responses Steve.
