OIL PUMPS GALORE!!! Machining
#344
Hey I just came across this when I was at work. Am I to late to jump on the train? I speed read through both posts but just wanted to make absolutely sure that I am not going to end up with a $150 paper weight. I have a 1997 with the 1.8, if my oil pump is to specs will these gears work?
tooth tip clearance
standard: 0.02-0.18mm {0.0008-0.0070 in}
maximum: 0.2 mm {0.0079 in}
Outer rotor-to-pump body clearance
standard: 0.09-0.18mm {0.0036-0.0070}
maximum: 0.2 mm{0.0079 in}
side clearance
standard: 0.03-0.12 mm {0.0012-0.0047 in}
maximum: 0.14 mm {0.0055 in}
I have not yet ripped apart the engine since I am not quite ready for the rebuild but I would like to get in on the group buy if it will work for me.

Haha, whata marketeer. I ordered 50 and I think there is only 47 or so orders. Once I get to 50 thats the cutoff. I'm not making money and it takes a while to ship 50 of these things. The QC process is to actaully drop each machined gear into an oil pump housing and check for clearences as well as use a bit of lapping compound if resistance is felt on rotation. They are built to perform.

Just so I am clear, the short nose pump is the only one that is different, the 94-97, and 99+ pumps are the same? Because I have a 96 engine, and 01 head, and am currently using a 96 pump, but want to make sure if I buy these gears, that the 96 pump is what I "should" be going with. If so, I'm in.
