What I am saying is a rubber hose that close to the turbo will give you problems both from heat and maybe rubbing on something and cutting it. If you cannot fit the pipe back in, get a long hose and run it high, up around the fender area somehow. The thermostat housing can be fit anywhere in the line but needs the ground strap so that your fans work.

Oh ok I got you ...

Yeah the old copper tube won't fit any more BUT I can definitely run the rubber hose high with a larger pipe.

Thanks Bruce for your input I was concerned about the temp heat shield cutting into the pipe and considered cutting it back a little

you know MS doesn't even utilize the fan switch on your thermostat housings.

There is no need to run the fans through the MS on a 1.6 since the fan control doesn't go through the OEM ECU system. It is just a thermoswitch and relay.

Even though this is a 1.6/1.8 conversion, I would doubt they did the extra work of changing the harness.

It can be done, but I'm just sayin'
