Default Upgrade your Churbo to Garrett specs...?!

Hey, I'm not sure if you guys have seen places that do this since I haven't searched, but I've found a place that will "re-manufacture" common and cheap churbos found on eBay with Garrett internals for $260.

Check it out:

http://blaastperformance.com/index.php

Go to re-manufacturing services and scroll down to "Knock-off T3/T4, upgrade to Garrett (XSP,ZY)"

Seems like a deal to pick up a very cheap churbo and send it out for a total cost of < or ~$400.

What do you think? That is approaching Holset, and some BW turbo costs, though...

Are the infamous Churbos the t25/t28 from Begi?

If that's the case...not listed.

I hear they do T25/T28 as well, but I'm not 100% on that, maybe I'll send an email to them and report back.

Pretty cool if they do.

Are the innards the potential failure in the churbos?

over in my VW forum, people tried churbos and the housing would blow apart at higher pressures.

Certain ones did I'm not sure which "brand". It was more or less depending on the eBay supplier. There are several that have held up great without any modifications. I think it may be an easy visual queue though, some of them have compressor housings that almost look like two pieces of plastic attached together lol.

Some of the other members here may be able to chime in, but the Godspeed churbos like the 2871 they offer are supposed to be great even as-is.
