Default first time drag

Best run of the day was:
R/T... .578
60..... 2.083
330... 5.854
1/8.... 8.893
MPH.. 81.19
1000. 11.466
1/4... 13.706
MPH.. 100.09
this was with a botched shift from 3 to 4. My gearing also kinda sucks since i have to put it into 5th about 100 to 200 ft before the trap. (3.9 and 6speed)
Does anyone have a spare 3.6 ring, pinion, and speedo gear that they want to get rid of?

I also need to get a good tune. Any one know of a Mustang dyno somewhere around hagerstown MD?

Questions:
How much boost were you running?
Where did you drag it at?
Are you going to the NE Dyno meet in DE on 11/14?

I'd leave those 3.90's in there, I am running 4.30's, but then again I also have a 5 speed.

Actually you need to go lower. A 3:90 is too tall for drag racing, and a 3:60 would be way too tall. You want to be near redline at the finish line in the gear that 1:1. Fifth gear in a 6 speed, and Fourth gear in a 5 speed is 1:1.

yeah man i think he would be better off with more power it would be easier than R&R the rear end gears. He's probly in the low 200s hp wise anyway mid to high 200's will make the 3.9 more acceptable.

I have the right to ban those who should go and fail to do so.

strangely enough, i had better 60ft times earlier in the morning when it was colder. the tires would just slip slightly with very little wheel hop. but then as the day wore on, the tires and track heated up, and i got more wheel hop. any idea how to remedy that one? i think i will try to reduce boost in first and second gears.

With street tires, I think the times will be better with the 3:90 and boost.

I had 4:30 gears and first and second where a joke. No traction.

I switched to the 1.8L rearend. I don't now which gears where in it, but they where higher. Much better. I didn't get to go to the track before I sold it. But I could tell the pull was much better.

The 4:30's where too low with street tires. slick's would be better.

there was also a guy that had played around on M.net that claimed the 6 speed and the 3:90's pulled the best times.

5 speed 5.0 mustangs actually pull better times with the 3:73. Just cause they hook up better. Now if you are buiding a drag car with drag suspension, massive slicks and etc etc. that is different.

But a car with mild works and the power with boost. I'd leave those in.

Just kidding.

Slicks are fun though. You will go almost a full second faster in the quarter with them. My first set was a set of tiny 20"x8"x14" on an crappy set of wheels I got from the junk yard. With your gear ratio, that tire would be a good combo. They are pretty cheap, but it does look dorky. The best part about those tires.......no wheel hop.

Where did you get those? I have a spare set of miata 14" rims 2 of which I want to throw some cheap slicks on for the drag strip. Any recommendations?

Pretty decent time for such low boost and considering it was your first time. I think the shift to 5th is what kinda slowed you down. Had you been able to stay away from that last shift (3.6 or up the redline) I think it would be very beneficial.

I have a very bad feeling that with slicks and a hard launch our Torsens would want to **** themselves though.

wheel hop is much worse than a good hard launch, just ask my broken axle. some wheel hop in the burnout box killed it, yet 7000rpm launches were no problem.

spin - hard on tires
no spin/hop - hard on clutch
hop - hard on everything

From what I've gathered.
