should I just throw away a free EMU?

should I just throw away a free EMU?
I got my 96 about a month ago. The car came with a mostly complete turbo kit:
BEGI cast mani and DP
2.5 exhaust with bung for WB02
rx7 injectors (460cc? I forget)
2560 turbo
small FMIC
random piping.
My goal is a fun 220 rwhp summer car which will see an occ auto-x and hopefully will be reliable enough for a lapping day.
My friend is rebuilding his bnr32. He has offered me his never used EMU with MAP sensor for free if I will use it (ie: I can't sell it and use the money to fund a MSpnp.)
For the most part I hear that the EMU is not worth the trouble, and that I should just go straight to the MSpnp for about $600.
However, I do see that people have had success using the EMU on FI applications.
So, am I correct in saying that I can use the EMU, but I will need a wiring harness (unless I am willing to splice into the factory harness). I think I need to clamp the O2 signal when the ECU is in closed loop. Some have indicated that this is not needed. What is the final word on this?
If I do need to clamp the O2 signal, do I have to make/buy a circuit, or is there an existing feature on the emu that will clamp the signal? Where can I find more info on how to do this?
I know many will say, forget the EMU and just get an MS, but it is not entirely clear why the EMU will not work. I guess I am wondering who has a reliable EMU set up running for several years?

I'm on EMB and slightly over 200 rwhp at the moment.
I'm not having any problems at all, I have not tried to change altitude more than maybe 600 meters or so, but even if its old and limited, it does the job just fine for me.
I'd take the EMU, free is nice, You'll always have the possibility to switch to MS later on without more than some wiring.

Yes I did, using olderguys clamp, cant remember what it was before.
I do however think that there is a way around that with the EMU, I haven't tried it, but something like this Emanage Ultimate - Simulating a O2 Clamp? Help please! - MX-5 Miata Forum
sorry about m.net content, just googled it and went with what I got
