Since the first thing you are going to do is purchase proper engine management like a megasquirt, you know, just like you read about in the FAQ while you were studying examples of grammar that didn't look like it was written by the 12 year old offspring of a meth addicted hooker to better yourself as a person.

I'd say it won't help for ****.

Charlie, I think I probably speak for the group when I say that I have no idea what a "1.6 ecu 8k redline" is. We could really use some more detail as to what it is that you've actually got, so that we can more specifically tailor the unhelpful and insulting replies which we will give.

For what it's worth, insofar as comparing the "Miata crowd" to the "Honda crowd", it's difficult to say that one is better or worse as a blanket statement.

We (the "Miata crowd") are unquestionably more manly, more virile, more literate, more well-educated, taller, more financially successful, more knowledgeable about good beer, more secure in our sexuality, and (on a per-capita basis) more likely to be awarded a Nobel Prize in physics or chemistry than your average Honda owner.

We are not, as a broad generalization, more mature.

I think I just got back-handedly e-burned by Joe Perez.

I'm never washing that internet again

For the record, I really *really* don't like engaging in the grammar ****-ism that I often do. To be perfectly honest, I find it a bit..."played out" as the hip kids seem to say.

I do it to better the new members. Seriously, I do. When I was a kid and was afraid of baseballs, do you know what my dad did? He made me stand up against a tree, no glove, and THREW MOTHERFUCKING BASEBALLS AT ME. Not to injure me (he didn't huck them at me full speed or anything), but to both 1) toughen me up, and 2) improve me so that I would stand there and try to catch the ball instead of diving out of the way like a *****.

I know (or at least hope) that the majority of people that post on this forum and don't put even a rudimentary effort into how they type aren't retarded, I just want them to TRY. TRY to help me help you. I really want to see this community succeed with new members and ideas. But if you cant even take the time to spellcheck or put a complete idea into writing, I can't take the time to not **** in your thread and provide you with a helpful answer.

I think he's referring to the "chipped" stock ecus. Swap in a different crystal and supposedly you could raise the rev limit. No point now since MS can be had for so cheap, and then you also get rid of the AFM and related minutia.

Also, from what I remember, the mod is not that reliable. The same crystal in different ECUs would produce different rev limits.

Don't get me wrong, it works. And it's cheap. If the seller advertised 8k redline, I'm hoping it was actually tested. However its not okay to run our engines that high. If you've built your engine, that's a different story. But by the time you buy the proper cams, do the head work so it flows, header, and exhaust, I would hope you have the $400ish to buy a MS. Plus all those mods don't work too well with the constriction of the AFM.

It's pnp if you delete the stock airbox, and it has a bigger throat so it supposedly lets more air in. Good for something like 2hp above 5.5kish rpms. Again, you'd still need extensive head work, cams, header, and exhaust to make the 8k usable and reliable.

For a 1.6L? You probably want to treat the TD05-16G like the plague.
