Do i have the correct woodruff key?
I got a big nose crank for my built block and got a key for 93 but not sure if its all looking right.
Can somebody tell me if this looks correct.
the crank has a slight slant but the key is pretty much totally square.

Here's a link that might help (no pictures though -- but you can match part numbers to pictures on the Rosenthal website):
http://www.miata.net/garage/LongNoseRepair/index.html
The reason it's so long is that it also secures the pulley boss in addition to the crank gear. Big difference between the short and long nose cranks in this area.
Also, somewhere in my whiskey-soaked brain I have a vague recollection that there was a repair crank for the short nose that was different than the eventual long-nose crank. I wish I could lay my hands on a reference for that.
Think you need to take a step back here and really research what you have. Sorry I can't be more help.

Ha! Found it. http://www.miata.net/garage/crankshaft.html
This article describes a short-nose, a long-nose and a big-nose. The long-nose (probably what you have) takes the parts for the short-nose. So, if that's what you have, you do have the wrong woodruff key.
Good luck.

If you look at that link, you'll see the significant redesign and changes done with the big-nose crank. One thing you'll see on your crankshaft sprocket is that it lacks any tapped holes for the crank pulley. With the big-nose redesign, they came up with a pulley boss to do that function (the crankshaft sprocket's only job is turning the timing belt). Again, the Rosenthal site has good pix. Sounds like you may still have some parts to buy. Sigh.
