accelerator occasionally getting stuck totally open
This is happening more and more often. I floor the accelerator and it gets stuck totally open. This started to happen about 6 months ago and it's becoming more and more frequent.
What I do every time it happens is open the hood and move the cable and it goes back to normal.
Can someone tell me what's going on and how to fix it?
Thanks

Thanks
This may be the real cause. I'll follow up on this and let you know.
BTW, I still love that car!

Didn't you do a coolant reroute off the back of the head? If you routed it cold side check that the throttle arm isn't rubbing against the coolant hose. If it's like mine it didn't do it all the time. Just the right combination of actions and twisting of the engine/chassis would do it. I just zip tied the hose to keep it lower and away from the throttle body swing arm.

Thanks. I'll have to check that. I also used the 1.8 L housing so there's a weird curve in the hose.

The throttle return on my truck got sluggish & sticky once and it turned out that the butterfly shaft had just gotten gummed up with intake gunk. A little EFI cleaner and scrubbing with a toothbrush did the trick.

I'm really curious if this was Rafa's issue too. I only had the problem on track days and it scared the **** out of me until I figured it out. I cleaned the throttle body, lubed the arm, lubed the cable then... duh, it was hitting that damn hose.
