Default NB Exhaust options

So I'm starting to consider different exhausts and I thought I'd get some second opinions, right now I'm thinking raceland header and dynomax muffle (no idea what midpipe). I autocross the car, but its also my daily. Thoughts?

Well, it looks like you have a 99'. So any header would probably be a step up from stock. Raceland isn't exactly a "good" brand. May want to check out Installed my ebay Raceland header today - MX-5 Miata Forum for a decent review. I don't think it's worth spending the money for a RB header since you probably won't see much of a gain in power between any aftermarket header.

You can't bolt a turbo up to a raceland header. I wouldn't do it.

Read: Header Comparison Test

I recommend you look for a 2001-2005 NB2 OEM manifold. Its a significant upgrade from what you are running now and it will bolt right up to your current 99/00 factory downpipe. I know because I've been running like this for quite some time. It really makes a noticeable difference above 4,000rpm compared to the stock cast iron 99/00 OEM boat anchor.

See here: 2001 Tubular header

Remember you will need to change the locations of your O2 sensors to keep the factory ECU happy.

Yeah, the NB2 Manifold was the other option, my only hesitation is that I wouldn't be getting a new part and for less money I can get the brand new raceland, but that brand isn't the greatest in the world, has anyone had experience with one?

Why does the header have to be new? I have helped install a few raceland headers and I have never had one fit perfectly.

Why would you buy a used part when you can have a new one? If I can establish that a raceland has comprable performance gains and isn't a total bitch to instal then I would say its a good buy right? If those things are not the case then its not.

I have installed the race land header on a 1.6 engine, 1.8 95 engine, and a 99/01 engine and not a single one went in easily or fit the cat flange perfectly. I currently have the raceland header from the 95 engine sitting in my garage and it will not be going on my lemons car. Buy the 01+ OEM header and be done with it.

Because the "new" part is shittier than the "old" part.

For an OEM look, get the 01+ stock piece. The best thing about the 01+ is it's an OEM part. **** will fit (aside from the EGR tube, you'll need one from an 01+ car as well). It was made by a company who made hundreds of thousands of these cars. It works, they're all basically identical, no bashing with a hammer and a block of wood to make it fit. (cough, OBX header, cough)

I bought an OBX header, with the same midset you have. "It'll fit, it's cheaper than racing beat, win/win." Here's the aftermath.....

OBX headers..... Don't fit right. - MX-5 Miata Forum

For the best OTS header, get the racing beat. After cutting the OBX out, the RB literally fell into place, sitting on the steering linkage. It fit perfect, the EGR fit perfectly, the gasket fit perfectly. Buy shoddy parts at your own risk. For midpipes and mufflers, talk to Enthuza.

2nd everything said here.

if deal for 01+ get it. I dont notice that much of a difference between that and the RB unit.

2 RB has no fitment issues.

3. Enthuza

4. NO FM midpipe and their @#$#@ cat. If i had not scored a dirt cheap used FM pipe I would have gotten the goodwin pipe.
