How do I turn off the "Latest Threads" sidebar?

Can this be revisited? Even without ads, the sidebar sucks up horizontal real estate, leaving a blank bar as you scroll down. It's not so bad on desktops, but on older laptops with 1024 screens it's a real bitch, and forget about it on a phone. Maybe make a MT2011-light quick style without it?
