Ah I didn't know some of the back story with pats. That sounded borderline illegal.
repoforsale sounds very bannable.
sjmarcy to me is a gray area but of course I will defer to the owners.
flyper needed a spanking.

On a local forum, I got banned by the power-trippy owner because I was "arguing" (technical issues) with a member that was tight with the owner. I was basically de-bunking some suspension myths, other guy got uppity, and then got banned.

There was just no reason to keep him around anymore. He started out ok, but towards the end, pretty much every single post he made was just pure trolling. That's fun for a while (eg: 90R is still in the "amusing village idiot" phase) but eventually it starts to drag down the IQ of the whole forum. If we didn't occasionally weed out folks like Stan, this place would turn into CR.

Sure, but too bad, because the pix he posted on the interior corners to seam weld were quite useful to me.

I totally liked Pat and he was a smart dude but he did wrong and paid.

Back when he was in college he was short on funds. I pitched him $100 for books. No strings. Two years later I get a PM from him on m.net

"Just wanted to let you know that this Friday..... I graduated college! Got my degree in mechanical engineering.

Wanted to say thanks for sending me the 100 dollars that time a couple years ago, and let you know I made it though college. Got a job in Houston TX, and I'm moving there in a few weeks. Once I get settled in and get a couple pay checks, I'd like to pay you back if you don't mind.

Hope everything is going well for you. Take care.

Pat
"

I was taken aback. It was a couple of years ago. I asked that he not pay me back but find someone else that is in a similar situation as he was at the time and pay it forward.

Pat was a good kid. He was just really pissed about the homemadeturbo thing and took it too far.

Wow didn't know about that.

What I DO know though is that he is smart as hell and helped me a ton when I was a just starting with miatas. I talked to Stein when we both went Adaptronic among the 1st few and he told me "Pat is a smart ******, you should definitely listen to his advice". I have on many things and never regretted it.

When he was permabanned I was shocked as were MANY others (who will remain nameless unless they want to step forward themselves).
He is the one and only banned person that I truly miss on here.

But its Ricks site so Im staying out of that whole drama.

Your charming deployment of the english language is actually what brought me over here. Seriously.

That and water injection. That made absolutely zero sense to me. Three years ago.

If you are going to butcher something you might as well do it creativly so that when people hear you. They will say, "Man you sure took that loose and roflstomped it!".

I was having fun pissing off repo4sale...he was easy to get going. I was once in L.A. at C&C and saw his car there, I was tempted to really **** with it lol.

I've caught wind that I have caused a few people to report my posts in times past, but I'm not really here to troll every...just the fuckups. Oddly enough, in the 12 years I've been playing on forums, I've only ever been banned from one...because the owner is a selfish, spoiled euro douche that got all pissy when I mentioned that Mexicans and white trash are what you find when you visit Wal-Mart. He got all defensive stating that I was being racist/prejudice. The funny thing is a lto of the members of that board, all agree that he can't run a forum for **** and that it's an ego thing for him to say he owns a forum.

IMO, Pat thinks he is a lot smarter than he actually is. He may be knowledgeable on some stuff, but he is one of those people who refuses to believe he could ever be wrong. See his posts in the epic stud thread, his more recent comments on how 14.7:1 at 100kpa is "safe for a street car", or giving advice to people on how to build a cheap track car despite the fact that he's never built a track car or run his own car on a track. I might be wrong on this one, but I also recall him being one of the people who said that 5-speeds were just as reliable as 6-speeds, right up until the point he trashed his 5-speed.

I used to think fairly highly of him, and I griped when he was banned, but the more I learned from other members here and my own experiences, the less intelligent he sounded. His absence here is not a loss.

I agree with him there as long it under certain rpm, my turbo likes to easily bring up to 100kpa under low rpm

shift, open throttle, to start going again and its back up to 100kpa easily

before tuning that area it would go to 13.x, why waste fuel, I haven't heard any det or noticed anything wrong yet, liked to see what EGT would show.

If I remember that conversation correctly, he was saying that 14.7 at WOT on an N/A car was safe. I also remember somebody posting their AFR target table and I believe that it showed 14.7 through the entire range up to redline. (N/A)

I don't know about you but that scares me a little.

Take some readings off of any car from the factory and I am willing to bet that none of them will read 14.7:1 at WOT.

100kPa is 100kPa, regardless of whether the car is N/A or turbocharged, so one should aim for the good old 12.5:1 between 90 and 100kPa.
