That's what I thought initially too, but it would seem like a physical/hardware issue, but I can't think of why it would be displayed by windows as a driver failure. I guess maybe it could be a video card BIOS issue because of faulty rom.

It might be over heating or defective. My gt420m did that and had to send my laptop back as it was a defect in the bored. After a while it would just over heat and kick my laptop off.
